I don't buy new vinyl often, pretty much a ripoff for an inferior product, especially with modern pressing being so bad. Except for a few niche pressers, production by majors stopped around 1989 due to declining sales. It was because at that time consumers would pay more for a superior product, and the compression which mars current compact disk releases wasn't there. I really am a sucker for a really nice gatefold vinyl release, but one must really look at the market and decide if the record company is gorging the pricing or not..it doesn't take much for an indie to find a way to sell you previously released material for $40.
