Worst To Best Iron Maiden Studio Albums
I'm not 100% sure about this ordering but I'm pretty satisfied with it |
15 | | Iron Maiden No Prayer for the Dying
Mother Russia is the only song I really like. A couple of other decent songs and the rest of the album is pretty poor. |
14 | | Iron Maiden Fear of the Dark
Ranked low for the same reasons as NPFTD but there more songs that I enjoy such as Be Quick or be Dead, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Fear is the Key, Judas Be my Guide and, of course, the title track. |
13 | | Iron Maiden Virtual XI
Four great songs, four poor songs. Includes the infamous song The Angel and the Gambler, which repeats its chorus far too many times. Lightning strikes twice is also guilty of this but not to the same extent. |
12 | | Iron Maiden The X Factor
not bad, but it's a bit boring, and a bit forgettable. I only really go back for the excellent song, Sign of the Cross. |
11 | | Iron Maiden Iron Maiden
Now on to the good stuff. It was close between this and the follow up, Killers, but I ranked this lower. No bad songs I just think Killers is a bit better. |
10 | | Iron Maiden Killers
A pretty good album. Nothing spectacular in my opinion but it has some cool songs, my favorite being the second instrumental, Genghis Khan. |
9 | | Iron Maiden A Matter of Life and Death
A cool soft and semi-progressive album. Not one that I listen to often but is a great album overall. My favorite songs are The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg and For the Greater Good of God. |
8 | | Iron Maiden Dance of Death
Well known for its hideous album cover, this is another album from the 2nd Bruce Dickinson era. Once again not one that I listen to often but there are some really good songs on this album like Dance of Death, New Frontier, No More Lies and Journeyman. |
7 | | Iron Maiden Piece of Mind
This is the point where I am not certain of my ordering. All I know for certain is that I hold the following albums in very high regard. This album in particular features what is probably Iron Maiden's best known song, The Trooper. However I believe that it overshadows some of the more superior songs on this album such as Where Eagles Dare, Still Life and, my favorite, Die with Your Boots On. |
6 | | Iron Maiden Powerslave
Considered one of the best Iron Maiden albums. I ranked it relatively low because I don't like Flash of the Blade of The Duellists. Every other song is great though. |
5 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
The first album to feature Bruce Dickinson was not received well upon release in the United States. Despite this it has gone down in history as one of the best heavy metal albums ever to be released. While I personally wouldn't go that far I would recommend this as an album to listen to if you are considering getting into heavy metal, or Iron Maiden. Has some of their best known songs like Run to the Hills, The Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name. |
4 | | Iron Maiden Brave New World
A fantastic comeback from a string of bad albums in the 90's. This album was the return of Bruce Dickinson, and some very solid song writing, despite apparently not having learned from The Angel and the Gambler (see the title track). Highlights include The Wicker Man, Ghost of the Navigator, Dream of Mirrors and the criminally underrated closing track, The Thin Line Between Love and Hate (Oh I fuckin' missed it!). |
3 | | Iron Maiden The Final Frontier
Iron Maiden's latest album (to date) is amazing front to back. They have advanced the semi-progressive sound they had been honing with the previous albums and the result was proof that a band can still come up with fresh ideas 30 years in the running. |
2 | | Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time
My very first Iron Maiden album blew my mind the first time I heard it. Every song is great, from the epic guitar solo on Caught Somewhere in Time to the grand finale, Alexander the Great, and every awesome song in between. I'm going to mention how incredible The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is just because it deserves more recognition dammit! |
1 | | Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Remember how I said Somewhere in Time blew me away? Well this managed to do it again, even more so. I never imagined I would be drawn into an album as much as this one did the first time I listened to it. I would do any thing to relive the experience of hearing this for the first time. From the haunting words at the beginning of Moonchild, to... the same haunting words at the end of Only the Good Die Young (it comes full circle). Honestly one of the best albums I have have ever heard. |
