| Writers: I Need You
hey bimbos. i am about to start my creative writing thesis and i wanted to ask ryou all some very important questions. | 7 | | self defense family try me
is there anyone here that can rec a good site to get your stuff workshopped? i don't have much of a community for this at the
moment, and i'm not involved in a lot of social media. | 6 | | pallbearer foundations of burden
anyone here know a good place to find contemporary poetry online? poetry isn't as canonized as fiction in general, and i've been
trying to find interesting collections and databases, online zines maybe, but my search hasn't been very fruitful. trying to get
inspired here. | 5 | | jimmy eat world clarity
i've asked some people about this already, but are there any english graduates who can tell me how the fuck i'm going to get a job? | 4 | | don caballero don caballero 2
does anyone know any good books about writing? i read part of the stephen king one, and it was actually pretty helpful, but fuck
stephen king tbh. | 3 | | envy a dead sinking story
anyone got any good book/author recs? my favorites have historically been cormac mccarthy and richard brautigan (who i just
realized are so so different from each other), lately i've been getting into more politically conscious stuff like brave new world. also,
john darnielle's new novel destroys left and right. | 2 | | isis oceanic
anyone know about applying to MFA programs? i need a lot of info about this, if anybody has any random tidbits of advice or recs of
schools to look at, that's much appreciated as well. | 1 | | low i could live in hope
if you have some work you'd like to show me, either because you want some feedback or just because most writers like showing
other people their shit, please let me know. exchanging material with someone would be really helpful as well. | |

11.20.14 | cool list man, and cool topic. I feel your pain, I can't help u much other than the fact that I am an amateur self taught creative writer that scribbles rubbish poetry and my only advice is to write whatever, whenever and keep practising your craft. by the way foundations of burden = aoty | Mythodea
11.20.14 | I laughed at 4. As for 3, check Nikos Kazantzakis. You will not regret it. | Rowan5215
11.20.14 | I'll happily exchange stuff with you if you like although I'm far from professional or well-practised at it. I'm great at editing though so if you need someone to do that
Also how can you even hate Stephen King | Rail
11.20.14 | With regards to 5, you've picked the wrong subject if market value is what you're looking for. | Voivod
11.20.14 | About 4:
Check this one:
Cechov Anton - Senza trama e senza finale. 99 consigli di scrittura (http://www.ibs.it/code/9788887765502/cechov-anton/senza-trama-senza.html)
It's in Italian, it's been translated in Greek, so there's a good chance you will find the book in English as well. | Voivod

11.20.14 | 5 - lol, dreamer.
4 - check Umberto Eco's "On Writing" also peppered throughout some of Foster Wallaces non-fiction there is a lot of good info regarding his process too. Outside of books, the new Nick Cave documentary details the creative process very well.
1 - i'll read and be horribly critical of your work, as long as you'll do the same for my book. | SmersH
11.20.14 | also: in my experience workshopping your work in a group has a terribly short span of usefulness. for me, nobody knew each other well enough to dare say anything outside of vague "this was cool" or "you missed a word" crap day in and day out. | letme69johndarnielle
11.20.14 | thanks for all the tips. if anyone wants to send me something, my e-mail is finnstinky@yahoo.com (my first name is Finn, i'm clearly very bad at picking usernames for myself). I will always respond. i will also check the recs.
to clarify on 5, i wasn't talking about a "writing" job necessarily. i've just talked to friends' other brothers, post-grads etc., who sometimes had good advice about what to expect, 'cause i guess that's a common anxiety for an "english" major to have. i have no expectations of making money through this, that's not why i do it.
on another note: has anyone heard the new full of hell x merzbow collab, and should i pre-order it right now? | klap
11.20.14 | fuck stephen king? fuck you! | BallsToTheWall
11.20.14 | no | bakkermaarten007

If you have good writing skills coupled with a good imagination and/ or perception there's a very broad range of sectors you could thrive in: marketing (copywriter), journalism, work in innovation bureaus (trendwatching), try selling your own books (risky), ...
Writing skills are an important asset, one that is not as likely to be replaced as others in this digital age. |
