Sad Autumn Digs

List is music that just feels like it fits with the season. Autumn in Sweden is depressing as fuck, at least rduring rainy days like these. (List is also mostly things that I feel fit in with the season, my "current digs" list rwould be different from this) Feel free to rec me depressing stuff (I've probably heard a lot of them though) rand your autumn digs.
1Sadistik
The Balancing Act

It's funny, because half of the records that sput-users tend to qualify as really depressing, aren't
the slightly bit depressing to me. Sure the lyrics might make you want to kill yourself, but the
music itself isn't very depressing, one example being Teen Suicide. Decent band but I can't really
feel the overly sad vibes that everybody is describing.
Anyway, Sadistik is my go-to-artist when summer turns to autumn, and autumn turns to winter.
This album makes me feel the darkness crawling inside me from the cold and the grey.
But in a good way.
"The ghosts pretend and they tell me that I'm different
Tell me I'm perfect, they tell me I'm significant
They tell me every single lie they conjure and barter
Because I am a monster
And everyone that I've ever loved is dead
They disappeared, and found a better one instead."
2 Carissa's Wierd
Songs About Leaving

Because this band just brings dem sad feelz.
Maybe I should explain myself. Surely, I like sad music, most music that's depressing tend to
hold most value to me, because after all I find that sadness, grief and negative emotions do
hold a greater depth than happy ones.
But despite this, I prefer being happy, and spring/summer tend to make me a more mellow
dude, I can feel happy as fuck without anything in particular being especially great. But as
soon as the temperature drops, the leaves change colors/fall to the ground, and the autumn
rain starts coming, I just fall into some weird seasonal half-depression-thingie. It's not a
physical thing like for some people that get real seasonal depressions, I just hate the cold, the
grey, and how bleak and lifeless things seem during this part of the year. I was born and still
live in Scandinavia, Sweden to be more exact, and I definitely don't feel like I belong in this
type of climate. I also hate wearing several layers of clothing, so winter is even more
miserable when I have to wear an ugly-ass jacket or coat. Whatever. I should just move...
3Lydia
Illuminate

Maybe it's because I have such a personal connection to this album, but I just think it's so
beautiful and depressing. I have this weird thing that I hate, and it's that in my last two
relationships, that, when I start to jam this album, it's sort of like a precursor to being
dumped. It's not the album that has made my partners dump me obviously, but it's like my
subconscious knows something before I do and makes me jam this album, like precognition or something.
4Keaton Henson
Dear...

Because his lyrics are so emotional and personal that you feel like you're listening to him
reading love letters (and not especially happy ones) that you really shouldn't be hearing.
5 JMSN
?Priscilla?

Because he does some seriously sad R&B-stuff. It's like The Weeknd had a baby with Justin
Timberlake, that was born with chronic depression. Nah but seriously. Rainy day R&B.
6Grouper
Ruins

Could've gone with any of her albums, felt most appropriate with her new one. It's a cool
album for sure, and her sad ambient/folky music sounds really good with decent production.
So you know that she's not one of those lo-fi artists that would never work with a decent
production because the noise is what keeps you from hearing what they're really doing.
7The Antlers
Familiars

Okay, Hospice is a more depressing album, but I prefer this one (I'M SORRY OKAY). While
Hospice is a more devastating listen in general, I just feel like this album just manages more
to encompass the sound of autumn. I think most albums that have a bit of a sad jazz-vibe just
tends to go there.
8As Tall As Lions
As Tall As Lions

Because I love this album, but I never find myself spinning it during spring/summer, but as
soon as summer turns into autumn, it becomes more and more of a regular staple in my
listening pile. Anyway, this album is even more wintery than it is autumn-ish, but I digress.
Also, am I the only one who feels like if The Antlers was a bit more... I don't want to say pop,
but if they had a bit more forwardness in their sound, they would sound slightly like this? I've
never heard anyone make the comparison so i'm probably alone in this. Maybe not musically
similar but... in the overall feel and instrumentation. Maybe it's just because both bands are
slightly jazz-influenced indie-rock with a singer that likes to sing in falsetto/head voice.
9Polyenso
One Big Particular Loop

I'm unsure if some albums are generally as sad as I perceive them to be, or if when I actually
started getting into them/first heard them affect how i hear them as well.
Anyway, this album isn't straight-forward depressing, it doesn't make me feel sad, but it has
this cold vibe, it just sounds like it was written during autumn. Can't say how especially, but
yeah.
10Bohren & Der Club Of Gore
Black Earth

Because I now see that I tend to find a lot of the darker jazzy albums really fitting for the
season. This one is pretty dark though, as the album title might give you a hint about. Really
slow, ambient almost noir jazz-y experience.
I have some runner-ups but we'll see if I make another list of it.
This is my second list, and I know that I don't listen to the coolest music, I APOLOGIZE MY
DEAR SPUTSLUTS.
