Nevermore Ranked

These guys were my jam many years ago when I was getting into metal. They're not as great as I thought they were back then, but they still have some solid albums. Warrel Dane's voice may be wonky, but he's certainly a talented vocalist and it somehow clicks with the music. Here's my little tribute to an old favorite.

The Obsidian Conspiracy

What a disappointment. Mostly dull, and anything that sounds like it's going to get good just remains boring instead.
7Nevermore
Enemies of Reality

This album is so forgettable I don't even remember it. But at least I'm not remembering it for being disappointing.
6Nevermore
Dead Heart in a Dead World

A lot of the songs have a poppy sound in their structure. Real basic sounding stuff. Not a big fan of this album, though it does have a few killer moments.
5Nevermore
In Memory

A nice little EP. Satisfactory.
4Nevermore
The Politics of Ecstasy

Somewhat hit-or-miss, but in the range of great songs to okay songs, so it's not that bad. I like early Nevermore's more raw and thrashy sound.

Nevermore

Other than the mediocre first song, the rest of this album is a damn solid chunk of thrash. Featuring several parrot squawks from Mr. Dane going falsetto.
2Nevermore
This Godless Endeavor

Suffers from a bit of a juvenile feel that Dead Heart in a Dead World had, but the songwriting is a hell of a lot better and everything is pretty tight.
1Nevermore
Dreaming Neon Black

All of the sorrow, hatred, and rage is in this album. Easily their best because the emotions are raw and readily apparent in both the music and the vocal performance.
