Snide's Metalcore Recs: I

This is basically a list of Metalcore albums that aren't particularly well known that I have enjoyed and want to share with Sputnik. Below is the list of said albums with small descriptions of their sound.
1Soulnerve
The Dying Light

Description: Imagine if August Burns Red and Parkway Drive had a baby with Tech Death
influences. That's Soulnerve in a nutshell. Starting Song Recommendation: "They Come For Us
All."
2The Ongoing Concept
Saloon

Description: This band is just crazy, high energy fun. If you're looking to get a high octane fix,
check these guys out (oh yeah, banjo breakdowns.) Starting Song Recommendation: "Cover
Girl."

Description: Do you miss Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory or Meteora? Look no further, this band is
literally the Metalcore version of Linkin Park, blending strong Harsh Vocals with a rap and
clean vocal performance that sounds almost eerily similar to Mike Shinoda and Chester
Bennington respectively. Starting Song Recommendation: "Hostage."
4Yashin
Put Your Hands Where I Can See Them

Description: A softer, British metalcore band who is influenced by a number of heavyweight
bands such as Silverstein, You Me at Six and Before Their Eyes. Starting Song
Recommendation: "Stand Up."
5The Royal
Dreamcatchers

Descriptions: Straight up metalcore, this band manages to succeed in what bands like Miss
May I and others try to do and only marginally succeed, if they even succeed at all. Starting
Song Recommendation: "Spirit Walker."
6Youth in Revolt
Love Is A Liar's Game

Description: Literally Sleeping with Sirens with testicles. Starting Song Recommendation:
"There For You."
7Blindside
Silence

Description: Another band that takes their cues from Silverstein, except Blindside is heavier.
Starting Song Recommendation: "Pitiful."
8Glamour Of The Kill
Savages

Description: Nostalgic for "The Poison" by Bullet for my Valentine? Does their new material not
cut it for you? Well Glamour of the Kill is here to fill that void, with plenty of solos, guitar
wankery and technically impressive sections to keep you amused. (Plus their vocalist is
arguably more capable and appealing than Matt Tuck of BFMV while still sounding similar in
tone.) Starting Song Recommendation: "Welcome to Hell."
9Hope For The Dying
Aletheia

Description: Brimming with acoustics and general guitar shredding in full force, Hope For The
Dying definitely has a message to get across with their music. Most of the songs are quite
lengthy as well (with half the songs being longer than eight minutes a piece), luckily, none of
them overstay their welcome. Starting Song Recommendation: "Acceptance."
10Come the Dawn
Light of the World

Description: Are you willing to overlook slightly generic instrumentation? Well then, bask in
the vocal glory that is Come the Dawn. This band has a clean vocalist with the range and
power of heavyweights such as Jonny Craig (arguably this guy is better than Jonny), he's also
not half bad in the harsh vocal department. Starting Song Recommendation: "Worlds Collide."
11I Am Ghost
Lovers' Requiem

Description: My Chemical Romance and Crown the Empire had a more technical and circus-y
baby, and the result of that was I Am Ghost. Starting Song Recommendation: "Dark Carnival
of the Immaculate."
12Texas In July
Bloodwork

Description: Another straight up Metalcore band, but this entry is a bit of a shocker. This band
used to be nothing more than mediocre with some flashes of promise. However this album is
tight and packed with some slamming moments. Starting Song Recommendation: "Inner
Demons."
13This or the Apocalypse
Haunt What's Left

Description: Chaotic and melodic at the same time (in a vein similar to Every Time I Die), This
or the Apocalypse is a band definitely worth checking out. Starting Song Recommendation:
"Subverse."
14Royal/Revise
Revival

Description: There's nothing too standout about this band, just good quality vocals, some nice
guitar work and some very catchy instrumental sections overall. Give it a listen. Starting Song
Recommendation: "Rebirth."
15The Agonist
Lullabies For the Dormant Mind

Description: Looking for one of the best female harsh vocalists out there? Look no further than
The Agonist, catchy guitar arrangements are abundant here as well. Starting Song
Recommendation: "...and their Eulogies Sang Me to Sleep."
16Us, From Outside
Inspired By the Threat of Failure

Description: One again fairly standard metalcore, but the piano and clean vocals are what
make it worthwhile. The instrumentation isn't half bad either. Starting Song Recommendation:
"No Ash, No Phoenix."
17Unparalleled Height
Rise of the Voiceless

Description: Literally Avenged Sevenfold's "City of Evil" album part two, but it leans more
towards Metalcore instead of Hard Rock. Starting Song Recommendation: "Malevolence End."
18The New Age
Think Too Much; Feel Too Little

Description: This band is just solid in all aspects, vocally, lyrically and musically. Technical,
even slightly proggy to an extent. If you're looking for a thrill ride, don't hesitate to check this
band out. Starting Song Recommendation: "This Life."
19Maximum the Hormone
Buiikikaesu

Description: What Fronz from Attila tries to do, but way better and without the partycore
nonsense. High octane Japanese metalcore with some well utilized scream rapping. (Oh yeah,
and let's not forget about Death Note using tracks from this band, fuck yeah.) Starting Song
Recommendation: "Zetsubo Billy."
20 Girugamesh
Girugämesh

Description: Another high energy Japanese metalcore band, although this has more of an
emphasis on melody compared to the raw energy in Maximum the Hormone. Starting Song
Recommendation: "Shoujo A."
21Jamies Elsewhere
Rebel - Revive

Description: Everyone seemed to ignore this band when Aaron Pauley (their previous vocalist)
left to join Of Mice and Men, however with this band's newest release, they got even better.
Especially in the clean vocal department (and the choir vocal build ups give many of the songs
a unique flavor, the production is damn fine as well). Starting Song Recommendation: "In
Depth Perception [Ft. Dev]"
22In Fear and Faith
In Fear and Faith

Another band that seemingly seemed to lose a good portion of its fanbase overnight (partially
due to the album before their self titled being a mediocre mess). But they redeemed it with
their self titled, re-arranging the band with fantastic new vocals, and more emphasis on the
keys as well. It's a great album. Starting Song Recommendation: "A Creeping Dose."
23Camisado
Pulse

Description: Another standard Metalcore band, but brimming with energy. The harsh vocals in
particular pack quite a punch. Starting Song Recommendation: "Pulse."
24The Dead Rabbitts
Shapeshifter

Description: The side project of Escape the Fate's vocalist "Craig Mabbitt." It's essentially what
Escape the Fate's fourth studio album should have been. Nothing more needs to be said.
Starting Song Recommendation: "Shapeshifter."
