Take a look, it's in a book..

Back To Oblivion

House of Leaves- My favorite book, my first foray into ergodic literature and font play and all that shit but the story was fantastically pieced together and used a variety of avenues to piece together the plot. Love it love it love it.

A Toothpaste Suburb

Only Revolutions- Since I became an auto fanboy of the author after House of Leaves, I figured I'd try his next book. A lot of people HATED this and it's easy to see why. With it's duel narrator that makes you flip around the book every eight pages to follow the story gimmick and the free jazz-like cadence of the reading (not my words but it makes sense) this was easily the most difficult book i've ever read. Pretty interesting if you stick it out though since the story is hard to decipher and the words and flow are so imaginative it kind of forces you to conjure a vivid image in your head of what the fuck might be going on.
3Hail The Sun
Wake

Inferno- Dan Brown's latest adventure novel/research wank project is more of the same. If you like the da vinci code or angels and demons (don't admit it out loud here it's actually known by the outside world and your sput-cred will drop) you'll like this. the overarching problem is pretty hackneyed and bland but the way it progresses is fun. nothing deep, just fun.

1Q84- Murakami's magnum opus they say. This is one of those authors who's underground famous kind of like gybe! is in music. this was my first novel of his and while the author left nothing to the imagination (its a long, ultra detailed fucking book) this served to make some of the most realized characters I've ever read about. you knew everything about these people by the time the book ended. the story has continuous flashes of the paranormal mixed into the character study that for me really helped propel the story forward. at the end though it's a rather touching love story.
5The Contortionist
Language

The Long Earth- Love me some terry prachett so i thought this novel coauthoring with stephen baxter would be coolio but i was a little sad that this book had so little of his humor but I enjoyed the story immensely. The plot I guess wasn't very original (it's kinda like Jumper I guess?) but it was enough to get invested. good little read
6Emarosa
Versus

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage- All the fucking sadboys on this site would love this book. murakami's writing style is absolutely perfect for this type of story and I enjoyed how human it came across. It's about this sadboy Tsukuru Tazaki whose very best friends in the world suddenly cut him off with no explanation at all. He gets all sad and spirals down but is convinced to meet with his friends years later and get closure. The whole book is him meeting his friends. Very good and a nice change of pace from the weird shit i had been reading prior to this.
7He Is Legend
Heavy Fruit

The Raw Shark Texts- This is what I'm currently reading, I just started but I can tell im gonna like it. the author is british which totally matters and he is describing this weird story magnificently without being needlessly fluffy and verbose.
