AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | Thanks peeps.
Yes! Best song on HTTT. |
ChoccyPhilly
09.26.14 | Really good read, but I can't understand how you found OKC challenging |
KrazyKris
09.26.14 | Yeah, though I'm not too thrilled by the whole album or Radiohead in general. Great band, but OKC is crazy overrated and HTTT just has too many flaws. But THAT bassline and the drums!!! |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | Well, at the time Choccy, I didn't listen to as much music as I do today.
I don't know... I just had a hard time listening to it. I kept taking the headphones out of my ears to take a quick break. |
ChoccyPhilly
09.26.14 | I understand that, but how you found Kid A easy and OKC challenging? That just seems so odd. Maybe you just gravitate towards the electronic side of them instead |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | Maybe back then I did. But The Bends was not challenging at all. Just fantastic.
OKC is different. I am still discovering new sounds today. |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | Why Chuck? |
SwallowShotguns
09.26.14 | Amnesiac>> |
KrazyKris
09.26.14 | @American I completely get that actually. What I personally find off-putting about OKC is that it's an album that seems to want people to admire it rather than let them sink into the music and Kid A, although being quite clinical, is at least for me more the latter. |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | See I feel the opposite. I think OKC completely sinks you in. |
KrazyKris
09.26.14 | Really, only a few tracks do that for me (Climbing Up The Walls, Let Down). I really don't agree with Robert Christgau usually (and he's definitely not the guy you want to agree with), but I think he's right when he calls it arid. |
TheSupernatural
09.26.14 | "Well, let's see. A couple years ago I started getting into better music. I had listened to Radiohead singles before, but never really gave an entire album a run through. Here is where Kid A came into place."
Basically the exact same for me |

09.26.14 | For me back in the day, first opinions.
Pablo Honey - It's all a bit wannabe grunge lite.
Bends - It's a bit U2 but plastic trees rules me world.
OKC - I bought it on tape as there was excitement being generated, you couldn't get away from it and Android blew me away. The first listen of this album was (and still is) one of the greatest listening experiences I've ever had the pleasure to stick into me ears.
KID A - Twaddle.
Amnesiac - More twaddle but Pyramid Song is great.
HTTT - Nope, they've well and truly lost it.
In Rainbows - Downloaded for free, couldn't believe how amazing it was.
KOL - Loved it. |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | What of it?
"Sometimes I forget this exists" |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.26.14 | @Zak KOL over Kid A?! |

09.26.14 | They are definitely one of the best bands ever. They're a band us young people can use whenever our parents complain about how there's no good music anymore |

09.27.14 | Interesting that the first albums you fell in love with were Kid A and In Rainbows, yet you found OK challenging. Cool list. I remember when the only Radiohead song I had ever really heard was Creep, and a few off OK, and then I was in bed with my laptop and decided to check out In Rainbows Live From the Basement and was totally blown away by how these robotic sounds managed to be so organic and moving and beautiful. 'Reckoner' is my probably my favorite Radiohead song |
conesmoke
09.27.14 | smiths>? |
AmericanFlagAsh
09.27.14 | Reckoner is top Radiohead for sure.
Smiths are amazing. Another favorite. Not better than Radiohead for me though. |
