Aftershock Festival - Awards
Triple digit temperatures, enough white trash kicking up dust to constitute a rbiohazard, $30 rrparking ($15 each day), shit sound guys for the early bands... rwhat can I say, it was a rock rrfestival. Didn't stay for headliners either night, rno regrets |
1 | | Islander Violence and Destruction
Band that Sounded the Least Like I Expected:
You could say I was disappointed. They didn't sound like this album. They sounded like
POD meets metalcore. What the hell? Singer lost his voice too. |
2 | | Viza Aria
Best Band That No One Had Ever Heard Of:
These guys were good, 4/5 |
3 | | Memphis May Fire Challenger
Best Metalcore Band:
Could be meaningless since I didn't see We Came as Romans or Of Mice & Men. Atreyu
won a different award. |
4 | | Sleepwave Broken Compass
Band that the Sound Guy Hated Most:
All your treble mix belong to us |
5 | | Dead Sara Dead Sara
Best Band With Only One Song I Knew:
They were decent. Nothing more to say. Song is "Weatherman" and I recommend
checking it if you haven't heard it. |
6 | | Fuel Puppet Strings
Worst Band |
7 | | Pepper Kona Town
Best Band:
I had heard a bit of Pepper but really didn't know what to expect. These guys knew what
they were doing and they were damn good. Stole the show in my opinion. |
8 | | Nothing More Nothing More
Loudest Band:
Doesn't really count since I was basically in the second row back. Third time seeing them
and they've kicked ass every time, although the sound guy for this stage still couldn't
get his shit together. Wish they could play a longer set but they played "Jenny" and it
was predictably great. |
9 | | Chevelle La Gargola
Second Best Band:
First song they played was "An Island" and it was flawless. Rest of their set was just as
great. Second time seeing them and I wish they'd come back to Sacramento more often. |
10 | | AWOLNATION Megalithic Symphony
Band That Sounded Cool When I Was Leaving |
11 | | Atreyu A Death-Grip on Yesterday
Best Band I Heard but Didn't See:
Got there a little too late. Heard them walking to the show but their short set (fuck the
guy who put that together and gave Atreyu a mere 30 minute set) ended as soon as we
arrived. Managed to hear "Blow", their cover of "You Give Love a Bad Name", and I think
"Bleeding Mascara" |
12 | | Black Stone Cherry Magic Mountain
Second Best Band I Heard but Didn't See:
Resting in the shade, didn't really care to see them |
13 | | Unlocking the Truth Album
Best Kid Band:
No really this band is a trio made up of 13 year olds |
14 | | Theory of a Deadman Savages
Band That I Expected to Suck but Didn't Suck as Bad as I Expected |
15 | | Buckcherry Fuck
Best Quote:
"we've got a new album out, it's called.....................................fuck........" |
16 | | Seether Isolate and Medicate
Third Best Band I Heard but Didn't See |
17 | | Mastodon Blood Mountain
Best Hair |
18 | | Rise Against The Black Market
The Least Pretentious Band by a Mile:
Drummer had one of the smallest kits I've seen for a rock band that wasn't local or
indie. |
19 | | Five Finger Death Punch The Wrong Side of Heaven and The Righteous Side...
Best Reason to Leave the Festival Early |
20 | | Bad Religion True North
Honorable Mention:
Yeah these guys are out of place on the list and I forgot. They played between Nothing
More and Chevelle and sounded pretty good but I wasn't paying much attention. I'm
sure their fans loved it |
