Devastator
09.13.14 | Right now a 7.5/10 for me but I'm only level 13. |
Final Origin
09.13.14 | Really loving it atm, I am level 20 about to get to 21. The game really only begins once you reach level 20, with all the strike playlists and story roulettes. It's the same with any other MMO's really. I play FF14 and the endgame on that is absolutely amazing. |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | once you get level 20+ and a fireteam the game is top |
wacknizzle
09.13.14 | smae, duck hunt after level 20 is only doable on a crack binge. dem sum fast berds |
Tyler.
09.13.14 | Lmao |
ConcubinaryCode
09.13.14 | i dont think i like the idea of a game picking up after putting several hours into it |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | well its still hella fun getting to 20, its just that lots of stuff open up at 20 |
betray
09.13.14 | So boring lmao. 3 person teams lmao. Same hordes of same enemies while you defend your AI shining a light on a computer
until you fight the big boss thats just a big version of the little enemies but take 20 minutes of constant shooting to kill while
hordes of lesser enemies swarm you. what's your reward? xp that you could have earned in ONE game of pvp and maybe like
1 piece of loot lmao |
Satellite
09.13.14 | it's just halo for a slightly shittier generation |
KILL
09.13.14 | knew this game would blow god damn hype machine |
Crysis
09.13.14 | it's actually pretty shitty, kind of regret that i bought it
gameplay is boring, missions are stupidly repetitive and bosses are nothing more than bullet sponges... the game doesn't even look good either i have no idea why people are praising the graphics |
KILL
09.13.14 | seriously the one console game blowin my brain is driveclub, god damn that looks insane |
ConcubinaryCode
09.13.14 | i heard it has the grind of an mmo with none of the benefits so im really just skeptical |
Crysis
09.13.14 | @KILL - Driveclub looks amazing, can't wait to play that. Haven't bought a good racing game in ages. |
betray
09.13.14 | Killzone and Battlefield 4 look better on PS4 than Destiny.
Speaking of Battlefield 4, if you wanna shoot stuff, play that.
If you wanna run quests and loot, play Diablo III.
Problem is Destiny tries to do both and sucks at it.
"the grind of an mmo with none of the benefits"
pretty much sums it up.
oh did I mention that you have 3 person teams lmfao |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | lol its probably the least grindy mmo of all time, because its not even close to being an mmo in the traditional sense. Its pretty much
identical to borderlands in terms of leveling and loot. |
betray
09.13.14 | well in an MMO, you can actually communicate with players outside your 3 person (lol) team and the entire community is in one area.
Destiny is not an MMO (it's a persistent world online shooter), because it has neither of the above features
And yeah it's like borderlands in terms of leveling and loot except in Borderlands you actually get loot and in Destiny you get a piece or two every few missions. and the level cap in destiny is 20 lmfao |
MuhNamesTyler
09.13.14 | my dad really likes it |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | 20 is just a character level. Your skill tree is only like half filled when you get to 20. Plus you have a completely different subclass
with that. Im level 22 (max level is 25 with armor) and not even halfway on my skill tree. If you're trying to level up you character
with both subclasses you're looking at like 60 hours or more |
ti0n
09.13.14 | cod lovers will like this. others will be bored to death |
betray
09.13.14 | And what exactly is the incentive to keep playing the same repetitive missions to fill out your skills tree(s)?
To feel accomplished? |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | well, yeah thats what an rpg is haha. If you liked borderlands you'd like this because they're really fucking similar. The missions are
literally copy-pasted borderlands missions. Except this has PvP thats hella fun too |
iswimfast
09.13.14 | as a fan of halo and mmo's this fills an awesome niche. |
betray
09.13.14 | I know what an RPG is and I have both Destiny and Borderlands.
Destiny's PVP is terribly boring and unbalanced imo. |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | Sounds like you just need some friends breh ;) |
iswimfast
09.13.14 | there will have to be balance tuning, complaining about balance in a freshly released rpg like this one is inane. using items for pvp AND pve is something every game developer struggles with from the start. |
MuhNamesTyler
09.13.14 | F this game, GTA 5 got a next gen release date yesterday |
Gyromania
09.13.14 | all the criticisms are true: it's cold and static and linear and monotonous and ultimately a misfire of epic proportions. it's not terrible in and of itself, but its rinse-and-repeat formulaic nature wears, and it's ultimately influenced by games far better than it. a far cry from the masterpiece it's touted as |
Gyromania
09.13.14 | i'm definitely with crysis on this one
and atomicshane: it is really nothing like borderlands (which is an amazing game) |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | nothing like borderlands? what the fuck game have you been playing? Its an rpg shooter with loot and guns that has missions on open maps. Even the classes have a skill tree and special thats almost identical to the ones in borderlands. minus the story & comedy, its the same fucking game haha |
Gyromania
09.13.14 | no it isn't. borderlands 2 feels lived in, this is cold and static. enemies are anonymous, boring, there's little to no context on these things, no direction, poor ai interactions, dull characters. borderlands 2 has wit, its characters feel very much a part of the experience, and so the tedious quests (yes, i'll admit they exist) are less taxing because the dialogue is consistently enjoyable and the whole experience feels organic. destiny is cold and mechanical and so its tedious aspects are made all the more blatant |
Jots
09.13.14 | you'd have to be looking only at surface level to compare this game to Borderlands. |
iswimfast
09.13.14 | holy shit what the fuck gyro
arguing semantics when the games are very, very similar in GAMEPLAY and very, very different in EXECUTION. just because you enjoy one way more than another doesn't mean they arn't ridiculously fucking similar in many ways. |
Gyromania
09.13.14 | i don't even think they're all that similar. like, any game with a leveling tree and extensive weapons database is comparable to borderlands 2? they're very different in how they tell stories and build up characters and such. i'll concede there are similar gameplay mechanics but everyone immediately jumps to the conclusion that it's a different version of borderlands and that couldn't be further from the truth |
iswimfast
09.13.14 | "like, any game with a leveling tree and extensive weapons database is comparable to borderlands 2?"
comparisons are used to familiarize someone with something they don't understand. if i had to pick a game that's closest to Destiny i would pick B2 for this reason and the multitudes of other gameplay mechanic similarities. there are 0 better alternatives. |
Gyromania
09.13.14 | agree to disagree. i think a better descriptor would be mass effect meets halo |
AtomicShane
09.13.14 | not that I wana continue the arguing, but mass effect? damn dude I wish it was like mass effect. |
RivalSkoomaDealer
09.15.14 | Gameplay is very Borderlands 2.
I've been enjoying it but I could see it getting stale pretty quick. its not a game that i'm going to be playing for years to come or anything. Maybe not even through the end of this year. But we'll see. |
MO
09.15.14 | "no it isn't. borderlands 2 feels lived in, this is cold and static. enemies are anonymous, boring, there's little to no context on these things, no direction, poor ai interactions, dull characters. borderlands 2 has wit, its characters feel very much a part of the experience, and so the tedious quests (yes, i'll admit they exist) are less taxing because the dialogue is consistently enjoyable and the whole experience feels organic. destiny is cold and mechanical and so its tedious aspects are made all the more blatant "
this is about how one of my friends summed it up. not getting on this hype train. |
