| 10 Good Artists/bands That Got Horribly Shite: Exhibit B
Another 10 bands that used to release good shite but then released shite shite. | | 10 | | Def Leppard Pyromania
Once upon a time, Def Leppard were a prime New Wave of British Heavy Metal band and their first releases were romps of pure rawk. But then they got slick and saw $$$ and well you know how it went from there. Pour some SHITE on me, more like... | | 9 | | Lou Reed Metal Machine Music
Funnily enough, I quite like this album of more or less pure incomprehensible noise (no surprise that I also like 'Lulu'). But as much respect as I have for the late Reed, he released from stinkers in his long career. | | 8 | | Machine Head The More Things Change...
Like some bands on my last list, there are many who may argue that Machine Head were never good. Well this is my list, go and shite somewhere else. After this album, Rob and company caved to label pressure to write more commercial songs along the lines of the rising Nu Metal trend and released a string of stinkers. When this didn't translate into the sales they hoped for, they went back to what they did best... or at least tried. Marks for effort, I guess, or at least for stopping being totally shite. | | 7 | | Megadeth Cryptic Writings
Now before you blow your fuses at me, let the record show that there actually isn't a single Megadeth album I consider to be complete shite. No, not even 'Risk'. However, by shedding the awesome licks and shreds that he did better than anyone before, MegaDave made a bit of a blunder all right. Thankfully, they got good again in the 21st century and all is well. Or at least less shite. | | 6 | | Metallica Load
So yeah, I'm a bit of a Metallica fanboy even after all these years. And so fucking what, everyone has a favourite band and mine just happen to be Metallica. I don't even consider 'St. Anger' to be all that shite but I can admit that making more mainstream radio rock and alienating your fans and basically pissing all over them is generally not a good idea usually mostly kind of fuck you Lars. The Loads are much maligned too and I can see why. I dig 'em, but I understand why lots of people think they're shite. Just blare 'Master of Puppets' even if you're one of those twats who just pretends not to like it. | | 5 | | Slayer Diabolus In Musica
It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly where Slayer went shite, at least in comparison to their classic works. Again I must stress, I don't really think any of their albums are all that shite, but experimenting with nu metal is often an ill-advised move and even though they didn't go purely nu like Machine Head, there was a time when Slayer's output was sorely lacking in the balls to the wall oomph of their earlier releases. | | 4 | | Anthrax Stomp 442
Okay, so unlike the rest of the Big Four, Anthrax have an album that I consider to be a bit shite. And it's this one. They just didn't have the fire, the rage, the passion. John Bush is a fantastic vocalist so I can't blame him. It's just such a forgettable album. Shite. | | 3 | | In Flames Reroute To Remain
Again, people may differ in opinion as to when In Flames became a bit shite, but this is where I point my finger at. Metalcore? Really? Nothing against the genre but I think it's shite. So I guess I have that much against it actually... | | 2 | | Queensryche Empire
What was once an impressive heavy/power metal band became a joke thanks to Geoff Tate and his $$$ whoring ways. Empire was the last decent album they made before 'Mindcrime II' which was itself a bit shite compared to its prequel. Now without Geoff Tate they've made a cracking new album this year, but not enough to wash away the pungent smell of the shite they put out for almost 20 years. | | 1 | | Weezer The Green Album
No joke entry this time, but fairly obvious all the same. Weezer's last truly great album was their second one, although Hurley isn't too bad. However, after the Green album they just became shite. Nothing memorable about anything for a long time save for how blandly shite it all was. Hopefully their new album can pick up the shattered pieces of what was once Rivers Cuomo's creativity. | |

This, totally. | TheSpirit
08.17.14 | Machine Head only has 1 bad album and it's Supercharger.... The Burning Red rules. And I hope you're not including Pyromania or Hysteria in 1 | NorthernSkylark
08.17.14 | "Wait there was a time when Lou Reed didn't suck?"
Are you being intentionally dense? | LepreCon
08.17.14 | Empire was the last good Ryche album til now. Lou Reed never sucked, just an album or two. Machine Head had some terrible albums. Opeth never got shite ever. | LepreCon
08.17.14 | And yes Pyromania and Hysteria suck balls. | XingKing
08.17.14 | Excessive use of the word shite. Shite overload | NeroCorleone80
08.17.14 | Promised Land is great | Let
08.17.14 | Pyromania rules, what the fuck? | Totengott
08.17.14 | In Flames is a good example. | LepreCon
08.17.14 | No such thing as excessive use of the word shite. I would say it isn't said enough. I will substitute every second word of every sentence I type with the word shite from now on. And shite pyromania shite is shite. | Sabrutin
08.17.14 | Promised Land is great [2]
Pyromania rules [2] | LepreCon

08.17.14 | True but that isn't difficult to accomplish! | Skoop
08.17.14 | I like Promised Land as well but opinions are opinions | Snowdog808
08.17.14 | Nice to see you again LepreCon, and I must say most of your soundoffs are brief but fun reads. Anyway, I completely agree on Queensryche, except Promised Land was their final album before becoming mediocre to terrible up until they removed Godawful Tate from the band. I also think most of what Metallica did after the 80s was average at best, and I'm certainly not the only one on the site who thinks that. | ArcticWolf616
08.18.14 | I actually like the newer In Flames, especially Come Clarity. | LepreCon
08.18.14 | @Snowdog808 Thanks brah, I might write some more when I'm sure people won't give off shite for me writing too many of them again! Yeah, I understand the hate for new Metallica but I do not share in it!
@ArcticWolf616 I can see why some do actually like the new stuff and I am actually somewhat partial to CC myself | wwf
08.18.14 | wait I'm sorry did you just say you enjoy metal machine music
but how | LepreCon
08.18.14 | Yup
Dunno. I was born weird. I embrace it. | Artuma
08.18.14 | list is truth but in flames aren't metalcore lol | LepreCon
08.18.14 | Yeah I probably should have been clearer on that point, what I meant was that they adopted some more modern influences that include metalcore whilst not necessarily turning metalcore themselves | NorthernSkylark
08.18.14 | interpol deserves a spot on here, tho i wouldn't flat out call it shite, just sort of worse | LepreCon
08.18.14 | Interpol is a good choice, I shall consider it for the next list! |
