Why in the hell are these bands so famous???

Bands that shouldn't be famous, but are.
1U2

Their music is pompous, self rightous, "New Wave" crap with a level of technical complexity equal to something an 8 year old could strum up after a week on guitar. It still baffles me as to how they're so God damn famous.
2Trivium

I always hear people describing Trivium as the next huge thing in metal, and while they show some good technical ability, their albums are laden with generic filler material and irritating half screaming, half yelling, loud talking that they try to pass of as James Hetfeild-esque 'singing'. I was hoping they'd sharpen their songwriting abilities for their upcoming album but so far it doesn't seem promising (keeps fingers crossed).
3Red Hot Chili Peppers (as of late)

Okay don't completely freak out at me for putting these guys on the list. I like a lot of their work, and consider them to be exceptional musicians. However, this is a perfect example of a band taking itself too seriously. Just look at By The Way and Stadium Arcadium (most of it), that speaks for itself right there.
4OAR

They suck. That's all there is to it.
5Any pop/punk/emo/"rock" band (ie. My Chemical Romance, Angels and Airwaves, Fall Out Boy, etc etc)

By harnessing the power of idiot, marginally obese teenage girls who think they're attractive eveywhere, these bands have sold shitloads of records and gotten incredibly famous without being original or innovative AT ALL. Bands should be judged on the music they make, not on how 'cute' their feminine, pretty boy singer is.
