| In Defense Of The Vans Warped Tour
Let me preface this list by saying that I think warped tour has an unfair rreputation. And if you?re completely biased against the bands and audience rthat often attends the festival then this list probably won?t change your rmind. But if you?re willing to keep an open mind let me explain to you why rthe Vans Warped Tour isn?t an musical abomination. | 10 | | Less Than Jake Hello Rockview
10, Back to the Future
The drummer of We the Kings has a drum set modeled after the DeLorean from Back
to the Future. Need I say more. Here?s a picture: http://i.imgur.com/2rOqDzO.jpg I
mean if that was my drum set, I?d play it all day long. | 9 | | The Story So Far Under Soil and Dirt
9. FREE MONEY
If you watch a video of animal slaughter you receive a whole dollar. Imagine what
you could spend that dollar on maybe a can of pop at your local vending machine,
or perhaps a pack of chewing bubble gum really the possibilities are endless. | 8 | | Bayside Cult
8. Meet the Bands!
They frequently have bands signings at various merch tents all across each venue.
Although for larger acts you have to get a wristband normally limited to 100 people.
Many bands members also often walk around the venue during their free time so
maybe you?ll see Chris Conley of Saves the Day or Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die
who knows? | 7 | | Lionize Superczar and the Vulture
7. Parent Daycare
This only applies to teenagers really but still it?s cool of Vans Warped Tour to have
a tent specifically for parents to have something to do while their kids are having
the time of their lives seeing their favorite bands. Did I also mention it?s free, so
you don?t have to waste a second ticket on someone who?s just going to sit in a
comfortable tent all day | 6 | | Allison Weiss Say What You Mean
6. The Acoustic Basement
You can take a break from heat in the acoustic basement tent, where some of the
best artists on the tour are playing including: Aaron West and the Roaring 20?s,
Allison Weiss, Better Off, Elder Brother, Front Porch Step, Young Statues. You can
also hear some of the regular acts in a new light including R&B group Bad Rabbits
and rock band I the Mighty. It?s just a refreshing breather from the other loud hot
gigs at warped plus it has Allison Weiss who is great (Please check out her album
Say What You Mean it?s soooo good and it really resonates with me because of how
honest her songwriting is). | 5 | | Mayday Parade A Lesson in Romantics
5. Word of Mouth/Traveling Festival
I?m also going to Lollapalooza this summer and for some reason I?m more excited for
Vans Warped Tour atm which is fucking ridiculous. And I know the reason why, it?s
because I?m constantly hearing about Vans Warped tour because it?s a country
wide tour. I don?t know of any other traveling festivals I?m sure there are many, but
VWT is constantly being tweeted about and Youtube videos are being made
constantly because it?s an ongoing thing for 2 months. They even streamed the
first full day of the festival. Warped tour just gets way more coverage than any
other festival I know of so even though I know that Lolla is waaaaayyy better, I?m
still more excited for VWT, which speaks wonders for their publicity team. | 4 | | Yellowcard Ocean Avenue
4. Diversity in Music
While VWT nowadays seems filled to the brim with average metalcore acts and
subpar pop punkers there is still a wide array of genres displayed by bands on the
VWT that are good at what they do. Some examples are: Ska (Less Than Jake,
Beebs and Her Money Makers) Hip-Hop (Bad Rabbits, Mod Sun) Nerdcore (MC Chris)
Acoustic (This Wild Life, Brian Marquis) Indie (Allison Weiss, Me Like Bees) Rock
(Lionize, Marmozets) and many more. | 3 | | Every Time I Die From Parts Unknown
3. New Setimes Each Day/ Band Equality
While you?ll never know if you have any band conflicts until the day of the festival
it?s the mystery of the schedule that intrigues me. You could either have the worst
conflicts ever or the perfect festival schedule, but you have no idea what it's going
to be until you get there. It?s kind of hard to explain, but I really enjoyed figuring
out my schedule the day of the concert. The different scheduled times also helps
to create a friendlier environment with less bands having a rock star mentality. All
bands on Warped Tour are treated equally. Even if you;re the largest name on the
tour you could be playing at 12:00 in the afternoon or 7 at night. So the biggest
acts are playing all throughout the day instead of having them all near the end of
the day resulting in a bitch of a scheduling conflict. | 2 | | Anberlin Cities
2. It?s Cheap
My ticket to Warped was like 20 bucks how many other music festivals are that
cheap? Basilica Block Party is a two day festival hosted by Cities 97, and the
cheapest 1 day tickets are 55 dollars. The most noteworthy act on Saturday is
Train. Now tell me which festival is a better bang for your buck. The shirts are also
cheaper at Vans Warped Tour than they are at most festivals. The only thing that
isn?t cheaper is food, I mean really 6 dollars for a hot dog? But you get the idea
VWT is cheaper than other music festivals because it?s demographic is teenagers to
young adults and neither of them have any money. So Kevin Lyman founder of the
Warped Tour caters to his younger audience by making everything cheaper than at
other concerts and venues. | 1 | | Saves the Day Stay What You Are
1. Great Bands
Yeah, I know that a lot of you don?t agree with this, and I know that there is a ton
of shit acts on the lineup but the good ones are good. For example my top 10 acts
to see at Warped for now: Saves the Day, Anberlin, Every Time I Die, Yellowcard,
Allison Weiss, Mayday Parade, Lionize, The Story So Far, and Less Than Jake have
at least 1 awesome album. There is a ton of cool warped bands I still need to
check out, so we cool. cool. Thanks for reading my list. | |

06.18.14 | Yeah a lot of the same acts frequently play warped. But there a some new ones like Saves the Day who I'm really exited about, and they haven't played Warped since 2006 I think. | scottpilgrim10

06.18.14 | I put up a list a couple of days ago about who I wanted to see this year. To save you the trouble my highlights are: Less Than Jake, Bayside, Crown the Empire, Born of Osiris, The Story So Far and The Protomen. | Snake.
06.18.14 | I thought this was going to be a Crymzon list | XingKing
06.18.14 | A Lot Like Birds, Protomen and Every Time I Die are literally the only bands worth giving a fuck about at my date, so not even worth it | Trebor.
06.18.14 | 60 bucks to hang out in 100 degree weather, see 6 OK pop punk bands and dozens of terrible pop punk/mallcore bands yay
We have coachella and FYF Fest and other shit here why the fuck would I ever go to warped tour | scottpilgrim10
06.19.14 | Brostep I'll definitely check it out since there really isn't very much rap at Warped.
erizen826 I really like all of those bands except Crown the Empire and Born of Osiris but I haven't listened to anything by those 2 groups yet.
SnakeDelilah I get why you would make that mistake.
XingKing I don't know I still think it's worth it for 3 cool bands, but I don't know how close you live to your Warped venue.
Trebor. Well I payed only around 30 bucks so I'm not sure where you're getting the 60 from. And there are good bands at warped and not just shitty pop punk bands. And yeah Coachella and FYF are better than Warped but I live in fucking Minnesota we have no good festivals here. But if I lived in California I'd be going to way more awesome festivals and concerts. I'm just saying that Warped Tour is worth going to especially if you don't live in any of the more popular states like California, New York, and Texas.
