Although he was one of the better performers, I actually thought that Neymar didn't have the greatest of games. He held onto the ball for far too long at some points. Nevertheless, 3 points, +2 for Neymar. Good start. Julio Cesar looked quite shaky though...

PappyMason 06.13.14	The referee actually looked like he didn't want to be there. The way he ran away after giving the penalty, when the Croatian players started charging at him, was comical.

JamieTwort 06.13.14	While I think Neymar COULD have been sent off I think if he had it would have been just as contentious as the penalty decision. He has a look and sees a player bigger than him coming in to challenge him for the header puts his arm up in the general direction of said player like any player would to defend himself and give him a better chance if winning it and his arm (not his elbow) hits the player in the face. It's certainly not malicious and he clearly has his eye on the ball when his arm actually moves towards the player.

osmark86 06.13.14	too bad a poor referee decision decided the game. that was not a penalty in a million years and I fully understand the frustration of the Croatian team and its supporters. I'm not even entirely sure that the header-challenge on the Brazilian goalie that led to the called off goal warranted a free kick. either way, that was not a convincing start for the Brazilian team. Oscar deserves credit though, he played excellent yesterday.

Chrisjon89 06.13.14	i agree with the disallowed goal for Croatia - I see those challenges called as fouls on keepers all the time. but the penalty was a shocker. thought Oscar was a bit shaky in possession, especially early, but defensively he was great. very different side to the Ronaldo/Ronaldinho lead teams I remember as a kid.

NorthernSkylark 06.13.14	Yeah, Modric did very well, except when he tried to dribble 4 brazilians in his own defensive zone. Him and Rakitic really tried to get something going, and they came pretty close a couple of time. The brazil defence is not the best in the tournament, for sure and I'm betting they will have a tough time against teams like Spain and Argentina.
