PitchforkArms: New Mastodon Track

EverythingAndLess 06.04.14	I personally would've ranked Blood Mountain higher but I can't fault the list. These are some great albums so ranking is difficult. I saw Mastodon play in LA last month and their performance of "High Road" made me like it a lot more than the recording did. I've got to give the latest song a listen. Hope the new album is really strong.
Dodenakker 06.04.14	Crack the Skye is your no.1? Interesting choice, I think it would be my least favourite record. Still great though. And for most of the newer songs, they sound much better live.

Riviere 06.04.14	"Have began to distance myself from them recently, i really miss the older stuff" How many times have we heard this before. If they kept trying to make Leviathan over and over then you'd be blasting them for being stale.
PitchforkArms 06.04.14	its not that Riviere, they evolved to make Crack the Skye, now they are making music that i simply dont enjoy as much. Leviathan is all that was good about Remission and more, and they couldve created Leviathan over and over and it would get stale, and they wouldnt progress, but it would still be solid. This new stuff is just ugh
Eggvander 06.05.14	Could not agree more. Their Great Era started with Remission and ended with Crack The Skye. The new single is a lot better than the first (that chorus was horrible). Nonetheless there is nothing really new and exciting about both of the songs :(. They have lost all their prog influences and are not expanding on their sound as it seems. Well we can only wait for the new album to drop and judge then I guess, but it does not look good... I am afraid it is gonna be worse than the Hunter. It is just really weird to see that from a band like mastodon who seem to have so much integrity and are such accomplished artists. Either their magic just stopped working or they are not really passionate about their music anymore...
