like fourth said, I'm def not suicidal or anything like that. it may sound strange but I find comfort in the fact that at some point, I could be free of negative things that have plagued me. that also doesn't mean that I don't want to spend my time here enjoying friends, family and the things I love, etc because I do |

the answer "nothing" or "nothingness" doesn't have anything to do with the physical. it has to do with the mental and awareness. I'm not saying that your being or your soul or whatever will be reduced to "physical nothingness"; because you're right if I were saying that, that would make no sense.
but what we experience will be nothing. everything we experience is dependent upon a functioning body and CNS. once those stop, so will everything we experience. our consciousness will dissipate. |

06.04.14 | Though likely in the minority, I do believe in a creator/designer (not the 'the earth is 8000 years old story'). I can't accept that we come from nothing, and life/physics/nature, though evolved, is too calculated and functional to not have been designed imo. It would take more "faith" to believe otherwise, personally.
From that I question, why were we created? My guess is it's for relationship (it's why I've bothered to have a child)... or some strange experiment. My hope and faith is that our non-physical self (soul and mind) continue to exist to gain better understanding of our creator and live in a state of peace and contentment outside of this physical world that man has made imperfect, but this may just be wishful thinking. Maybe those who do nothing for the betterment of life on this earth (or in fact do the opposite) do cease to exist eternally (seperation from God)? Maybe we all do fade away into nothingness? We'll never know for sure obviously but it's def interesting to give it some thought |

so one night maybe 4 years agoin my old house my mom was sleeping (parents slept in different rooms, this was near when they got divorced) and says that she woke up in the middle of the night for whatever reason. the blankets were like halfway fallen off at the end of the bed, so she goes to pull them up and feels some resistance. pulls harder and, as she tells it, there is something pulling back from the ground at the end of the bed, like HARD. fighting her for the blanket as she pulls. like they definitely werent caught on the bed or something. she said she was basically paralyzed with fear and was so scared she couldnt scream
so she tells me this and im like ehhhh. skeptical. i figure she was like, half dreaming or something
but then a few months later my little bro's friend sleeps over (they were like 13 at the time)..my brother and i shared a room at the time so his friend slept in the basement on the pullout couch. sprints up the stairs in the middle of the night SCREAMING and says that the EXACT SAME thing happened to him. my mom never told him, or anyone, what happened to her except me, but apparently the same thing happened to my bro's friend with the blankets being pulled off of him in the middle of the night and him fighting for them
so yea

yeah i know, but a lot of people have a hard time grasping the idea of nothingness/absence of consciousness. myself included |

06.04.14 | only "paranormal" experience ive had happened a couple years ago on a beach in my home town (which is apparently haunted as fuck, has a pretty rich history of milling, slavery, 200 years worth of gang crime, and wars against the native tribes)
me and a couple friends were sitting on a bench at like 2am, just chillin, smoking a joint (one reason why i dont truly believe we saw anything lol). i was looking around behind me (sort of felt that "being watched" feeling, though it was pretty subtle), when like 25-30 ft away just outside an old ass building (used to be a milling area) i saw some kind of shadowy, robed, humanoid figure, just standing there under a streetlight. i thought it was perplexing, so i told my friends and they saw it as well, giving the same description. and like we shouted at it and all it did was turn a bit, look at us, turn back and just keep staring at the lake. creepy as shit. eventually we just left to sit somewhere else, felt uncomfortable
i guess it's most likely we were just baked as fuck but idk, it was such a strange experience... ive been high as fuck at night many many times but that was the only time i actually felt like i saw some kind of spirit.
i'm not saying i actually believe in ghosts, but im also not saying i don't... |

06.04.14 | Absolutely nothing, or at least realistically speaking.
It might be a similar feeling (or lack-of feeling) that is akin to being subjected to Anaesthesia for a surgery. If that is the case, then it'll be nothing in the most literal sense. And since one cannot feel or experience anything whatsoever, there will thus be absolutely no sense of time or space either. It's pretty cool to think about, and even motivational. |

i dont know what i believe either. never had anything nearly as crazy as that happen to me in that house. we moved there when i was like 10 so i'd definitely remember some shit like that. that story in particular really makes me question what i believe, if it was 1 incident it'd be like ehhh but it was 2 unrelated ones |
demigod!
06.04.14 | yeah dude and you hear about shit like that all the time. like (another story) a friend of mine said he talked to a ghost child when he was really young, just like a regular conversation. he didn't remember it til years later though when his mom was recounting a story of the family who used to live there, apparently they had a son who had died playing with a washing machine. he saw the kid in the laundry room btw

06.04.14 | I believe our energy is simply transferred elsewhere. Sort of in the vein of the "circle of life" expressed in The Lion King. Energy can't be destroyed, so in a sense you'll still live, but outside your body. Maybe your energy will be in rats, trees, bacteria, ants, there are many possibilities. |

06.04.14 | We are the universe though, so even if the human race dies, our composition will be a part of the cosmos dance. We are essentially recycled matter, up to 7000 trillion, trillion atoms that form the human body and we, the universe, is experiencing itself. So in a way we are eternal (at least until the universe comes to an end, assuming there is an end), because everything around us is us. But we will be detached from consciousness to no longer experience it.
However, despite our search for coherence and importance, we really know and are next to nothing. Our intuition is based on our experience, and human beings tap into only a small part that constitutes reality. We build our entire world around our limited understanding of scale (mass, length and speed), with a limited sense on the totality of reality.
Our understanding of cosmology is vastly limited; in fact our basic understanding of nature is grossly oversimplified and misunderstood. Consider the largest thing in the universe, a celestial structure made up of 73 quasars, inconceivably spanning up to 4 billion light years long, was thought to be impossible to exist, yet every day we find more and more evidence that only leaves us with more questions than we began.
The reality is that we are literally just a speck of dust in search of significance, but as frightening as it may be, it gives us a sense of awe to be a part of something on a much grander scale.

06.04.14 | The notion of a spiritual life after death isn't complete nonsense , but there is a fairly large amount of data that leans towards
the notion of consciousness being nothing more than a series of complex chemical and biological arrangements that every
living organism abides by.
The notion of an afterlife or a before-life just isn't that probable when set aside empirical data conducted by some of the
world's leading neuroscientists. That obviously doesn't mean it's a fact or anything, and I don't see science ever getting to that
level. It's essentially just a matter of what's more plausible vs what's less plausible. That's the beauty of metaphysics. If
religion provides comfort however, that's perfectly fine. The notion of an absolute state of nothingness after the physical death
is most definitely one of the most intimidating concepts known to man, and that's exactly why man created religion (well one
of the reasons anyway). |

06.04.14 | " Evolution is a theory, but has plenty enough evidence to be turned into much more, but people who argue against it (with little-no evidence) are the reason it will never be accepted."
yeah but theory in science doesnt mean the same thing as theory is common talk. Evolution is often said to be both a theory and a fact. Also there is the theory of gravity and gravity as a law. google it, its interesting |
CrimsonLies
06.04.14 | Yes evolution is a theory, just like gravity. It's almost impossible to prove anything 100%, no matter how many observations and direct/indirect experiments have been done.
Just like the nature of light being constant is a theory. Even though there are literally piles upon piles of evidence that suggests light cannot be altered, and that Einstein's theories still holds true; there's always a chance of unexpected evidence that suggests otherwise. But that's the excitement of science, to be part of the revolution of understanding something no other human being has discovered |
