Friday13th: Overlooked Psych Preliminary

Friday13th 05.01.14	Due to the success of the ingeniously named Elite Prog Contest, I decided to kick off May with its psychedelic counterpart. Rec any psych rock album under 40 votes on sputnik and give a sentence or two of why it's groovy. PLEASE ONLY REC AN ALBUM IF YOU PLAN TO JOIN IN THE CONTEST! I thought I made myself clear last contest but some people didn't participate though the rest of us gave their album a fair listen. You don't have to rec to join in the listening and voting, but the inverse does apply.

Friday13th 05.01.14	@menawati Yeah some stuff is right smack in the middle. I think Colour Haze should be okay since they're cited as "stoner/psych" though I've never heard them. If you think stoner is like 80% of their sound and psych is something they just dabble in I'd say do something else.

emester 05.01.14	How about this? Dead Meadow- Howls From The Hills Psych rock made only a bit more than 10 years ago and still sounds as if it were a time capsule from the late 60's / early 70's

Jethro42 05.02.14	Listening to Wooden Arms atm, and I'm skeptical about his psych leanings. He tends to be more like a singer songwriter with clever arrangements, but with no trace of psych according to me.

manosg 05.02.14	I regret not having participated in the Elite Prog contest so I'll join you guys on this one. My suggestion would be the album I reviewed yesterday Quintessence (Eng) - In Blissful Company. It's mainly psych so I think it qualifies even though it's got some prog too. If you want a description you can use "East meets West on this progressive acid trip. What’s not to like?". Also, I see some damn fine choices. Namely, Culpeper's Orchard and T2. T2 may go all the way.
