1.Magical Mystery Tour
2.Revolver
3.Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
4.The White Album
5.Rubber Soul
6.Abbey Road
7.Let It Be

9-12.The first four are tied for last. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | For No One and Something are tied for my favorite Beatles song.
@Ryus I don't get why MMT is the black sheep among their late 60's releases. It's really consistent the whole way through, and it features some of their best/ most inventive tracks like Strawberry Fields Forever and I am the Walrus. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Help! is really underrated IMO. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: "I Am the Walrus" is my favorite Beatles song ever. "Tomorrow Never Knows" is my second favorite.
To me, the more psychedelic the Beatles song, the better. |
lou1000
03.17.14 | 7 and 5 are the best |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @ArsMoriendi That's why MMT is rated so highly for me. It's their most psychedelic and creative album, only beaten by Abbey Road since Abbey Road is flawless IMO. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Sgt. Pepper is really overrated, since the only amazing songs on it are She's Leaving Home and A Day
in the Life. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: My favorites from Sgt. are "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" and "Good Morning Good Morning" John
Lennon is so the best. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I can't decide between Lennon and McCartney It's too hard a decision but I may prefer McCartney because he's made a lot of my favorite tracks like For No One, Oh Darling!, Helter Skelter, and I've Just Seen a Face |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Sgt. Peppers after than Help??? You're right on 1 though.
My personal ranking:
1. Abbey Road
2. Sgt. Pepper
3. The White Album
4. Magical Mystery Tour
5. Revolver
6. Let It Be
7. Hey Jude
8. Rubber Soul
9. Help!
10. A Hard Days Night
11. Beatles for Sale
12. Please Please Me
13. With the Beatles
(1-4: almost equal, though; 5-9: awesome as well, but not classics; 10-12: I don't really care about their earliest records)

03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: Honestly, I even prefer Harrison to McCartney

03.17.14 | "John > George > Paul > Ringo"

scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | My ranking:
Paul > John > George >>>>>>> Ringo
Never trust someone who says Ringo is the best beatle.
|
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'George > Paul'
what the utter fuck |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | George could have been the second best beatle if he had more songs in their library. He showed his
brilliance really late in their career. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | he has about 5 good songs and many more shit ones. i know it's not cool to like paul but he's absolute genius and the best melodicist in the group |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: I just tend to prefer George led songs more than Paul ones, "Think for Yourself", "Blue Jay Way", "Love You To", "I Want to Tell You", "For You Blue", George is awesome. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | Any George song Help! and after is a winner without exception. "Taxman" dude. |

scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski Paul's my favorite too.
But George has some of their most popular songs to his name like While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes the Sun, and Something |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "i know it's not cool to like paul but he's absolute genius and the best melodicist in the group"
Yes, maybe, but Lennon is the one who made the experiments and he had plenty of great melodies too. Take, for example, A Day in the Life, which was co-written by Lennon/McCartney. The beginning (Lennon), and is really beautiful and interesting, then the middle-section (Paul) ruins the song with its cheerful and innocent melodies. Paul's songs never progressed, but Lennon's were always better than the previous one. |

scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Doctor Robert and Yellow Submarine brings Revolver's rating down. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "has some of their most popular songs"
Popularity has nothing to do with quality. Look at Miley Cyrus, she's popular as hell. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Why do you people don't like Let It Be? It's far from their best, but it's way better than their early shitty stuff. It's more like a B-Side to Abbey Road... |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | It is really hard to rank their albums. It took me all weekend to write this list.
|
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: But Doctor Robert is about Bob Dylan! |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: Yeah, other than a couple songs here and there, I can't say I love pre-Help! era songs. "She's a Woman" is a huge stand out though. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "Doctor Robert and Yellow Submarine brings Revolver's rating down."
No, Taxman brings it down. |
Ryus
03.17.14 | doctor robert rules, but yellow submarine is shit |
BMDrummer
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10 What about It's All Too Much on Yellow Submarine? That's always been one of my favorites from them. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: Dude "Taxman" is excellent. "Yellow Submarine" has cool effects and my Dad used to always play it when I was REALLY young (like infancy to 5), so I'm blinded by nostalgia. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Yeah, I like some of these early songs too, like I'll Follow the Sun and Eight Days a Week, but overall it was just simple a little over average pop music. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | Sgt. Peppers is not overrated, ask any prog/psych band. Ringo wrote one good song, "With a Little Help From My Friends," and it's on Peppers! For who's the best Beatle, the others are about even. Harrison wrote some of the best but he can't compete with Lennon/McCartney on number of classics. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Friday13th: Ringo didn't write "With a Little Help From My Friends", John and Paul did.
All of the songs Ringo sings were written by Lennon and McCartney except "What Goes On", "Don't Pass Me By" and
"Octopus's Garden" |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Rubber Soul and Revolver were transition albums, and transition albums are never the best, but yeah, they have some awesome songs. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | oh really haha fooled me he was a lucky duck |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @ArsMoriendi I know Popularity doesn't matter but it just shows that he's made some of their most critically acclaimed songs/singles. Besides those 3 songs are amazing.
"But Doctor Robert is about Bob Dylan!" That doesn't excuse it from sucking.
@Onirium "Why do you people don't like Let It Be? It's far from their best, but it's way better than their early shitty stuff. It's more like a B-Side to Abbey Road..."
I like Let It Be. I think its equal to their best early stuff because LIB has a few filler tracks like Maggie Mae and just bads songs like One after 909. Let It Be... Naked is fantastic though because it gets rid of two of the weaker tracks and adds an amazing song Don't Let Me Down. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Friday13th: If at least Ringo wrote With A Little Help for My Friends... |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: Dude honestly, I LOVE transitional albums, they're do diverse and full of experimentation. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'Any George song Help! and after is a winner without exception'

jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'Eight Days a Week, but overall it was just simple a little over average pop music.'
dude, that's a perfect pop song. as is most of a hard day's night |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | " I think its equal to their best early stuff because LIB has a few filler tracks like Maggie Mae and just bads songs like One after 909."
Nah their early stuff (everything before Help!) is kind of generic, but Let It Be has more identity. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: One After 909 was actually written in 63, so it is one of their first songs, but LIB had some really great tracks like Across the Universe, Let It Be and I Me Mine. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | I like Harrison's raga stuff |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: "Blue Jay Way" and is probably would make my top 10 favorites, it's near perfect. "For You Blue" is one of
the best songs on Let it Be, what are you talking about? "Piggies" is a cute little filler mocking the rich, I like it.
|
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | Honestly, I don't dislike any Help!-Let it Be songs other than some Ringo ones and the dreaded "Birthday." |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | I hear it's your birthday!!!!! |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "savoy truffle
within you without you
piggies
for you blue
^these are all terrible, terrible songs"
No, they're all awesome songs. They are all really cool experimentaions |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | well i'm glad someone enjoys them so i don't have to. I still thing for you blue is an overly-whimsical piece of shit though
what puzzles me more is the dismissal of everything pre-help. There's about 20 or 30 absolute classics from that era |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I like Birthday.
|
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "Birthday" makes me want to go on a violent rampage. It's like shitty modern pop tier level of awful. Thankfully, one of
the best John Lennon songs ever, "Yer Blues" follows it to calm me down from "Birthday"'s suckitude. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: Pre-Help Beatles and post-Help Beatles are like two different bands, and both have their classics. I really think the pre-Help stuff was more generic, and had a lot less stand-out songs, though. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | See I don't care for the overly bluesy Beatles songs, but hey that's what makes them so great. A little for everyone! |
Faraudo
03.17.14 | Revolver is 1. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium Yeah I remember that from a book i read about them. Those 3 LIB songs are great. I Me Mine
is extremely underrated among beatles fans.
@BMDrummer I like It's All Too Much, but it isn't one of my favorites. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: It's scary how much I agree on you with everything about The Beatles. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | help is a lot worse than a hard days' night in my opinion, the shitty side 2 kills it. I know that pre-help beatles are less ambitious and distinctive, but that doesn't make the songs any less incredible. all my loving is possibly the most perfect pop song ever written that isn't by the beach boys |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Friday13th: Yeah, I think that's why they're legends. They did songs for everyone's taste. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | The Beach Boys ruuuuuuuuuuuule I've been jamming both all week. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Help is in the same class as their later albums.
I mean it has so many fantastic songs, even though most of them are still about love. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: Yeah, like I said, there are pop classics like All My Loving and Eight Days a Week, but for me, The Beatles really started with Help or even Rubber Soul. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Friday13th I've never really listened to much of the Beach Boys. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | @Onirium yeah dude, Yesterday for us and Tomorrow Never Knows just to please the mothers. |
Ryus
03.17.14 | help rules yeeeeee

Onirium
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: Love songs can be good if you approach it originally like they did with in latest albums. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | @Scottpilgrim10 similar story as Beatles. Early stuff might be too pop for us music snobs but check out Pet Sounds and The Smile Sessions for some killer tunes. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | rubber soul is for me the start of the beatles' classic period, but hard days' night is the only beatles album with no poor tracks |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: You forgot Abbey Road, man. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "but hard days' night is the only beatles album with no poor tracks"
I'm not going to lie, but full album wise, I could care less about their first 4 albums. A Hard Day's Night is probably my 2nd least favorite. Please Please Me being my least. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Well, Please Please Me had Do You Want to Know a Secret, which makes it the most ridiculous Beatles album. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Friday13th I've been wanting to check out Pet Sounds for a while now, but I've never had a huge urge to jam it.
@Onirium My favorite Beatles song is a love song (Something), so I think they have always done that topic very well.
Does anyone else prefer Naked to LIB? |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: Fun fact: "Do You Want to Know a Secret" is the only George led song written by John and Paul.
Please Please Me is like a chore to listen to other than "Twist and Shout" and the title track. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | A Hard Day's Night is a really consistent record. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: yeah, like I said, love songs can be great when originally done, like in Something. Even All My Loving.
Has anyone seen the movie Across the Universe? |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | Pet Sounds is as good as any Beatles album *one hand on Bible and other on polygraph machine* |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium I haven't seen any of their films, but the first one I'm definitely gonna watch is A Hard Day's Night
@Friday13th Blasphemy! lol |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | abbey road has maxwell's silver hammer. and octopuses garden. and i want you |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'Please Please Me is like a chore to listen to other than "Twist and Shout" and the title track.'
how can you deny the greatness of i saw her standing there?! |
Ryus
03.17.14 | pet sounds is pretty damn gnarly, not enough standouts though, they should've put good vibrations on it |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: I grew up on the Yellow Submarine movie. Totally recommended. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: Across the Universe is not a film by them, it's a 2007 movie that builds a story based on Beatles songs. It's a musical drama film and the interpreters are really great. They revisit many of their songs nicely. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: Because if I didn't, I'd be a liar. |
Friday13th
03.17.14 | but God Only Knows is the best song ever soooo...I think they did gooooood...vibrations. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski I want you (She's so heavy) is ssssoooooooooo good.
@ArsMoritendi It looks really trippy. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "abbey road has maxwell's silver hammer. and octopuses garden. and i want you"
@jefflebowski: I Want You is probably their best song, man |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: It IS really trippy. Probably why I'm so fucked up, I saw it dozens of times when I was a little kid. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium That sounds really cool! Is it on netflix or do I have to buy the dvd? |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Yeah, the Yellow Submarine movie is awesome and highly recommended |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | ' I Want You is probably their best song, man'
i can't believe i'm hearing this :P
IMO the beatles' 'heavier' stuff is kind of embarrassing |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | also i'd say don't worry baby, surf's up or god only knows for best song |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski Helter Skelter though |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "IMO the beatles' 'heavier' stuff is kind of embarrassing"
You barely like George Harrison, the bluesy stuff, and the heavy stuff? Duuuuuuude come on. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | and thirdly the yellow submarine movie is fantastic |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: Yes it's on Netfilx. You'll really like it. You get into the story really fast. Plus, the main characters are called Jude, Maxwell, Lucy and Sally. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'You barely like George Harrison, the bluesy stuff, and the heavy stuff? Duuuuuuude come on.'
that still leaves about 95% of their discog. and where did i say i didn't like their bluesy stuff? it's mostly great
and when george was good he was fantastic |
Ryus
03.17.14 | dude their heavier stuff rules yeah i want you and helter skelter are so damn good |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | Jude, Maxwell, Lucy and Prudence*.... there's no Sally. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: I Want You is the first prog rock song and it is the one that influenced the whole next generation of rock bands. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Yeah, there's a Sally; she's a sexy 50-year old singer. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: Oh wait, FridayThe13th said that. But okay... do you at least LOVE "Love You To"? |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: You mean Sadie? As in Sexy Sadie? |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Oh, sorry, I was thinking about Long Tall Sally, but yeah, it's Sadie. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium That is awesome! I'll try to watch it tomorrow.
How did they get the permission to use Beatles songs in their musical?
|
Onirium
03.17.14 | So, you've seen it? It's pretty nice, eh? |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | good for them, still think it's a crap song though
and weren't soft machine doing their thing before abbey road came out? |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: idk, but some of their versions are even better than the originals like I Want to Hold Your Hand and Because. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "I Want You is the first prog rock song"
No, not even close. Yes's debut and In the Court of the Crimson King is a few months older. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | and yeah, love you to is the good side of george's raga influences
within you without you is the awful, awful side |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'No, not even close. Yes's debut and In the Court of the Crimson King is a few months older.'
ITCoCK came out a few weeks after abbey road didn't it? |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | though i want you isn't prog rock anyway so w/e |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jeff: Just tell me why you don't like I Want You.
Soft Machine's first albums were psychedelic rock. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Yeah, okay I know, but it was just to make it sound better. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I never even realized their name was a pun until my friend pointed it out to me. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scottpilgrim10: Yeah, for me, that was two months ago. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski Yeah Within you Without you is definitely the worst track on Sgt. Pepper. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: Lovely Rita, man. Lovely Rita. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium I guess I just assumed that they spelled it right or that they wouldn't make a really lame pun. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | i want you goes on for far too long with an arrangement that isn't imaginative enough to support it. there is some decent bass playing on it though. plus the playing is a bit sloppy in parts |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium Lovely Rita is pretty good. Only song I dislike on pepper is Within you without you. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "Yeah Within you Without you is definitely the worst track on Sgt. Pepper."
I like it more than "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "With a Little Help from My Friends" honestly. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jeff: Man, it's the 60s... It was an experimentation just like many of the Beatles songs. Maybe, it's not their BEST song, but it's pretty close. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: When I'm Sixty-Four is amusing but it's indeed one of the worst on Sgt. Pepper. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I like a lot of the McCartney songs that Lennon called old people music (ex: Your mother should know, Maxwell's silver hammer).
I Want You probably would have been in my top 5 beatles songs if it was a tad shorter but it's still at least top 15. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | Like I said, the only post-Help! stuff I don't like is some Ringo, and "Birthday"
Can we at least agree that "Birthday" is probably one of the shittiest songs ever? |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | for me i want you doesn't even come close to coming close to stuff like day in the life, eleanor
rigby, and your bird can sing, you never give me your money, strawberry fields etc. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | birthday isn't even the shittiest song on the white album |
Ryus
03.17.14 | lol white album has a lot of shit |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
I would like you to dance (Birthday)
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance (Birthday)
I would like you to dance (Birthday)
Dance |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @ArsMoriendi Can't do it.
|
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "day in the life, eleanor rigby, and your bird can sing, you never give me your money, strawberry fields"
None of those would probably make my top 20 Beatles songs except "Strawberry Fields" lol. I might make one of those tomorrow... |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Yeah, it's one of the shittiest songs ever. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Revolution 9 is the worst beatles song. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | A Day in the Life is THE BEST BEATLES SONG EVER. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | how could day in the life possibly not be in your top 20 |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "birthday isn't even the shittiest song on the white album"
Yes it is, its a contender for worst song of the entire 1960s as well. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @scott: Well, don't forget Don't Pass Me By. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'Revolution 9 is the worst beatles song.'
seconded. if mccartney had done it and not lennon everyone'd hate it |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | A Day in the Life is one of their best. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "Revolution 9" is cool as hell and "Don't Pass Me By" is decent. One of Ringo's better ones. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski Who likes Revolution 9? |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | wild honey pie is the shittiest song on the white album, closely followed by bungalow bill and piggies |
Onirium
03.17.14 | No, Revolution 9 is an interesting song. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "Who likes Revolution 9?"
Me. It reminds me of some awesome 60s Zappa songs too. Though Zappa does the whole sound collage thing better I will admit. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | assuming you don't count rev 9 as a song seeing as it's just lennon pissing around with tape loops for 8 and a half interminable fucking minutes |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: I LOVE "Wild Honey Pie". Duuuude that song is fantastic. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: I like it too. Have you ever listened to their unreleased song Carnival of Light? It's similar to Revolution 9. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | ....what |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | To me Rev 9 is a failed experiment.
I was thinking of lowering the White album's ranking because of the amount of bad songs it has, but it also has a ton of excellent beatles songs so I couldn't. |

03.17.14 | @jeff: You're not really open-minded, aren't you? |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "Have you ever listened to their unreleased song Carnival of Light"
"their unreleased song Carnival of Light"
"their unreleased song"
"unreleased"
|
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | it has some of their best stuff but is a lil' overrated in the beatles canon |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: You seem to hate on a lot of their experimental stuff. I thrive on that man. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | '@jeff: You're not really open-minded, aren't you?'
not a very nice thing to say...is this because i disagree with you? |
Onirium
03.17.14 | It's unreleased but it's on YouTube... |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | '@jefflebowski: You seem to hate on a lot of their experimental stuff. I thrive on that man.'
each to their own! but yeah, i don't think it was their strong point |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: That's what makes it so magical... |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski: No, it's because you seem to hate more Beatles songs than you like. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @jeff: It was a joke, man. I'm not serious. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | @ars absolute tosh...especially seeing as i'm the only one who seems to enjoy the first few beatles
albums. i just don't care for their more experimental stuff (with exceptions) - i'm sorry about that
but there's nothing me or my ears can do about it |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Wild Honey Pie is okay
The beatles named the white album songs horribly
Honey Pie, Wild honey Pie
Revolution 1, Revolution 9
They were running out of ideas. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | I think their strenght was really those experimentations they were making... Not their pop songs |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: I agree, even though some of the poppy ones are great like "I Will." |
Onirium
03.17.14 | @Ars: Yeah, some of their poppy songs are true classics I agree, but what charachterized them is their will to experiment with music and styles. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski I really enjoy Beatles for Sale and A Hard Day's Night |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | i really enjoy every beatles album, there's not a single LP without at least 2 classics on |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Did you notice that we're saying the same thing over and over since like 30 minutes? |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I think the only main Beatles album that is average is their first one, but even then it has some great songs.
Let's all agree that For No One is the most underrated song of all time. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | 'Did you notice that we're saying the same thing over and over since like 30 minutes?' - welcome to

ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: Certainly. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @Onirium There is a lot of ground to cover when talking about the Beatles. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | and yeah, for no-one is a gorgeous song, good lyrics too |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | So guys: "Tomorrow Never Knows" came out in 1966 before psychedelia was even heard of. That's something amazing isn't it? Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix didn't even release an album until 67. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Its a perfect song. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Yeah, the Beatles were there before everything.
|
Onirium
03.17.14 | What is your favorite cover of a Beatles song? Mine is Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | The Beatles were truly ahead of their time.
Helter Skelter = the beginning of metal. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Got to Get you into my life from the Sgt. Pepper film is really good.
|
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | the jeff beck version of she's a woman slays. also elliott smith doing because and the black keys doing she said she said |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | "She's a Woman" is hands down the best pre-Help! Beatles song in my opinion. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | "black keys doing she said she said"
That one's really good too. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | I'll Follow the Sun is my favorite from pre-Help! Beatles. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Mine's probably Baby's in Black. |
ArsMoriendi
03.17.14 | @Onirium: "I'll Follow the Sun" is really good because it sounds like it could fit on Rubber Soul. It it was re-recorded with
higher production, maybe even Revolver or The White Album. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "The Beatles were originally supposed to voice the vultures in The Jungle Book."
Woah. Disturbing. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Beatles For Sale and Sgt. Pepper is on the same level IMO. |
Onirium
03.17.14 | "Two Beatles were kicked out of Germany for burning condoms!"
Woah. Funny. But disturbing. |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | rubber soul would be in my top 3 beatles if not for the reprehensible douchesong that is run for your life |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | "Two Beatles were kicked out of Germany for burning condoms!"
Where are you getting these factoids? I didn't read any of this in my beatle book.
|
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | I like run for your life. |

jefflebowski
03.17.14 | run for your life has horrible misogynistic lyrics as well, which isn't usually a problem for me but it's so out of character for the album. plus the rest of it is just a bit half arsed |
Onirium
03.17.14 | Anyway, good night. Nice sputin' |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Good Night, Onirium |
jefflebowski
03.17.14 | likewise. good beatles debates are always welcome |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | @jefflebowski true. But I still like it because its so out of character and weird compared to the rest of the album plus the music is good. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | those omg facts are indeed omg worthy. |
808muzik
03.17.14 | sgt. pepper at 7. that's gutsy |
avonbarksdale221
03.17.14 | Pepper is probs the most overrated album in history tbh. Sweet list, can't really go wrong with The Beatles. Nice to see some MMT love, my third fave. Would've had Revolver higher though, its rightful place is alternating with Abbey Road for the number 1 spot. |
scottpilgrim10
03.17.14 | Yeah Sgt. Pepper is the worst album of their late 60's discography with only 2 amazing songs (Not Counting Yellow Submarine). Revolver would have been higher if it weren't for Doctor Robert and Yellow Submarine being bad. |
