Video Game Nostalgia #5 Part 3 - Mega Man Battle Network

Portable gaming was always a big part of my video gaming experience rgrowing up, and one of rrrthe series that ate up a ton of my time with how raddicting it was is the Battle Network rrrsubseries of Mega Man. Exclusively rmade for the Game Boy Advance, the games revolve rrraround main rcharacter Lan and his cyber pal Mega Man. The games constantly switch rrrraround both the human world and the cyber world to give players a rperspective on both. rrrThe enemies consist of computer viruses and Navis, rthe latter being the bosses of the rrrgames. The gameplay deviates from rthe usual Mega Man formula, in that it's an action-RPG rrrinstead of a side-rscrolling shooter, but it's a really cool experiment that worked well rrrrthroughout the series' 6 games. Despite the critics giving many of the rgames mediocre rrrscores for constantly following the first three games' rcommon formula, the only game that rrrtruly annoyed me was 5 (but that's ra story for another day). Overall, the series still holds rup rrand gets a solid r8/10 from me. rIf there's one game that's essential from this series, it rwould rrbe the 3rd rgame because it has the most touching storyline (and not in a sappy rrway) and rrthe boss battles are the most satisfying. That game alone rearns a 9.5/10 and is rone of my rrfavorite games ever.
