03.09.14 | I can't get the artwork for Uno like I did for Dos and Tre.
|
Ryus
03.09.14 | 2 definitely trumps 1 for me and i think 4 is much too high but other than that good ranking |
ArsMoriendi
03.09.14 | Green Day might be one of the better pop punk bands, but pop punk in general comes off as the genre that you just grow out of. Even if people still listen to the pop punk albums they used to like, its usually 100% nostalgia.
For me, I was never into pop punk so I got off lucky.
Just my opinion based on observing people though. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Dookie and AI are 5s for me, but AI narrowly beats it because of awesome songs like Homecoming and JOS. and I've never understood why people hate 21stCB, because I love it. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Dos gets a lot more flack than it should. It's better than Uno. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | "Dos gets a lot more flack than it should. It's better than Uno."
That's for sure, while Uno is bad I don't think it deserves a 1 rating. I mean this is still Green Day we are talking about not shit like Simple Plan. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Nice to see 3 that high, but 4 is definitely towards the bottom for me while 5 is 1 |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | I gave Uno a 2 and Dos a 2.5. Seems fair |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | I guess that's fair, I still can't rate the trilogy that low since I still find enjoyment in it even though its very little. I do love 5 but most of the songs blend together imo except the singles. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | The aggression and darkness is what drives it home for me. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | True. It also follows the same pattern as other popular 90's bands.
Poppy to Dark/Edgy
Weezer- Blue to Pink
Nirvana- Nevermind to In Utero |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | My ranking would probably go:
1. Insomniac
2. American Idiot
3. Dookie
4. Kerplunk
5. Nimrod
6. Tre!
7. 39/Smooth
8. Warning
9. Dos!
10. 21st Century Breakdown
11. Uno! |
Veldin
03.09.14 | Insomniac, Kerplunk & Nimrod are my favorites. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | I think that ranking is good except 21st is too low. I don't get why people hate that album so much.
What's wrong with it? It has some great tracks like American Eulogy and Restless Heart Syndrome. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Nimrod just contains too many alright tracks to be one of their best imo. |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Hmmm....I disagree with your list.
1. Dookie
2. Warning
3. American Idiot
4. Insomniac
5. 39/Smooth
6. Nimrod
7. Kerplunk
8. 21st Century Breakdown
9. Tre!
10. Dos!
11. Uno! |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | It's alright - I still have it at a 2.5. Good tracks like American Eulogy, Restless Heart Syndrome, Horseshoes, Static Age Viva la Gloria (Little Girl) and Christian's Inferno are neutralized with the shittiness of "See the Light", Last Night on Earth, Last of the American Girls, 21 Guns and Know Your Enemy |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Warning is really underrated. |
fallenbird
03.09.14 | Never understood the hate for 21 Guns |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | It puts me to sleep |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | I agree the shit you listed are the worst songs, but why do you like Christian's Inferno that has to be one of the worst songs on the album. I actually used to love Last Night on Earth's Lyrics now I hate them with a passion but I still love all of 21st CB
Warning does have a ton of great underrated GD songs, but also really average ones. |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Hold On is Green Day's best song. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Back when I knew very little about GD I claimed that 21 guns was one of my favorite songs by them, I regret that now but it isn't bad imo. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Christian's Inferno has the punk edge to it, |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Hey I loved WMUWSE too so things change |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | For Hold On the lyrics and the Harmonica is sweet but the rest of the music is pretty average imo.
Warning is actually really mature lyrically for Green Day. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Never understood the love for songs like Deadbeat Holiday, Church on Sunday or Misery |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | I still like WMUWSE but it goes on for too long and its a bit repetitive but its still a really sincere and sweet song. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | Tre! surprised me after Uno and Dos, middle lags tho |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Baron, I'm drawing a total blank. What is WMUWSE? |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Church on Sunday is so fucking good just everything is awesome. I don't care for Deadbeat Holiday. Misery is okay but the music gets pretty obnoxious imo. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Wake me up when September ends.
|
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Oh yeah. Thanks.
I think it's a great song. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | I used to think Tre is the best, but I really like Dos's raw production so dos narrowly edge Tre for me. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | hey guys remember the shitty Green Day tbt guy? |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | WMUWSE just got old after a while, but i still like it. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | I went back and looked at my old GD tbts on my old dead blog and honestly they weren't all that better:
like this one: http://songstealer.blogspot.com/2012/08/warning-review.html |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Kind of. I think I saw people complaining about him on sputnik's fave albums or something. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | A 100 point rating system is stupid. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | I know but this was pre-Sputnik for me |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | I remember him. I'm still waiting for his American Idiot review :( |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | He got banned though rip |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | American Idiot was next in line after Warning got deleted by the meds |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | Bummer. I thought he was funny. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | For a while yeah can't believe I took him seriously |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Oh! I read some of his GD reviews. I'm really not that good of a judge of reviews, but I know a bad review when I see one. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | He will never be forgotten. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | He joined the Facebook group before he spammed porn links and got deleted |
KriegdemKriege
03.09.14 | That crazy kid. Always getting into trouble. |
titanslayer
03.09.14 | I kinda liked 1 I haven't heard any of the others |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Listen to 2-5 you won't regret it. (okay maybe you'll regret 4 but I love 4) |
titanslayer
03.09.14 | Ok I'll give them a spin some time in the near to distant future
to many albums so little time... |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Truth. That's why I've listened to listen to less music from this yera and listen to older music, because there is a ton great popular stuff I haven't listened to yet. |
NordicMindset
03.09.14 | 2,3 and 5 are great |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | 1's got JOS and Homecoming sooooooo... its the best imo. |
ArcticWolf616
03.09.14 | Jesus of Suburbia is amazing, best Green Day song I've ever heard |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Jesus of Suburbia is probably my fave GD song it's just so epic compared to other songs and not just other Green Day songs. |
Insurrection
03.09.14 | dos the best of the trilogy? lol no
surprised so many people are putting uno last when its easily better than 21st century imo |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | blasphemy!
21CB>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UNO! |
Insurrection
03.09.14 | i found 21 to be overwhelmingly bad aside from a couple songs. east jesus nowhere is a guilty pleasure |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | what songs did you find bad? and also the good songs on 21st are way better than the good songs on Uno |
Insurrection
03.09.14 | maybe. i havent listened to it in years so i couldnt tell you, i just remember it being really not good |
Onirium
03.09.14 | "a great rock opera"????
I don't even think 21CB deserves to be called a rock opera at all! Maybe "an average concept album..."
(Sorry for my GD hatred) |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | fair enough, but this site gives 21st CB way too much shit. The least I would accept as a rating would be a 3, because there are a lot of fantastic tracks. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Don't know, I have not listened to it for a long time because I'm really into pop punk. For all I know, it's probably good for what it is |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | "a great rock opera"????
I don't even think 21CB deserves to be called a rock opera at all! Maybe "an average concept album..."
(Sorry for my GD hatred)
Opera/ concept album is interchangeable to me, but come on it is better than average. Listen to American Eulogy, Restless Heart Syndrome and tell me they aren't great
(Sorry for my love of Green Day) |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Actually, to me, the difference between a rock opera and a concept album is that a the first tends to be have an epic or dramatic storyline, like The Wall or Scenes from a Memory, and the second is just songs that are related to each others by some conceptual idea. I'm not telling rock operas are better, by any means, though.
But maybe I just don't get that album right. Anyways, I was quite a fan of them when I was 13, but you know I still respect them, for their ambitious career and all that stuff |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | IDK 21 CB is about Christian and Gloria dealing with a post Bush America so I think it leans more towards an opera, but I'm not the best at classifying music. I really respect GD too because they were the ones who really got me into music. And I still like them a lot, but I wouldn't say they are one of my fave bands anymore. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | I checked some of your ratings; we don't really have a lot in common, which was predictable because of our different opinions on GD. Unless maybe Coheed, Muse and Radiohead, which I like a lot. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | No we do not, but there is a lot of stuff I haven't listen too yet.
Radiohead, Weezer, The Beatles, Pixies, and Arctic Monkeys are my fave bands at the moment. Does that do anything for you? |
Onirium
03.09.14 | I was always a fan of The Beatles of course, and I am currently digging Radiohead and Pixies. I'm more into prog and jazz, although I really like alternative and indie. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Alternative is my favorite genre. Indie and Prog are cool. I don't care for jazz music tho. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | I see. I've got genres I don't care about too, like punk, dance, electronica, trash metal, etc. All the generic music. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Yeah I love punk music. There are some genres I just can't listen to like Death Metal and ambient/drone music. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | booooooooooooooooooo!!! Why? |
Onirium
03.09.14 | @Scottpilgrim: Your name... I just remembered that movie! Thought it was your real name for a while. Yeah, pretty sweet movie. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | No my real names Nick. BTW the comic is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy better than the film. I disliked the film the first time I saw it, but I've warmed up to it. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | @scott: Didn't knew it was based on comics. I don't remember much of it though, just the main synopsis, as I've seen it three
years ago. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | How did they go against everything they stood for? AI is about dealing with a Bush America and about growing up while 21st CB is about living in a post Bush America and also about growing up. And 21st Century Breakdown has a ton of sweet songs like American Eulogy, Restless Heart Syndrome, Murder City, East Jesus Nowhere, and 21st Century Breakdown. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Onirium Dude you have to read the comics there is only six of them plus they have so much depth emotionally. The ending is way better than the film. It is soooooooooo good. I actually teared up while reading the last 2 books. Ramona is also a fully fleshed out character instead of the boring piece of shit character Mary Elizabeth Winstead was. The comic is miles better than the film, but the film is still good. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | "An experience comparable to masturbating multiple times in succession" is a line I liked from the album's review, thanks to Adam Downer, which I also found really descriptive. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Scott I'm currently reading the Walking Dead comics so maybe after that I'll check them out. Do they have the same title than
the movie? |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | "An experience comparable to masturbating multiple times in succession"
Truly eloquent writing.
Yeah They are called
1. Scott Pilgrim's precious little life
2.Scott Pilgrim vs. the world
3.Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness
4.Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together
5. Scott Pilgrim vs. the Universe
6. Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour
And dude My Name is Nick not Scott (my username is Scott b/c I love Scott Pilgrim) |
Onirium
03.09.14 | I know your name isn't Scott, just as my name isn't Onirium |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Sorry about that bro I just said that b/c I said Nick early then you called me Scott, my bad.
Seriously though read Scott Pilgrim. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Yeah, I'll do. You don't need to be sorry for that, man. |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Should I read the Walking Dead Comics If I've played the first Walking Dead Game? The only comics I've read are Scott Pilgrim and Watchmen. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Yeah The Walking Dead comics are much better than the game or the TV series, you would surely like them |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Sweet! I've been wanting to read more comics, but they just seem really expensive to me unless I have a Barnes and Noble gift card. |
Onirium
03.09.14 | I bought the complete 2 volumes compendium edition of Walking Dead for only $60 on Amazon. And that's like 1500 pages of pure awesomeness |
Onirium
03.09.14 | Night fellas! Nice sputin' |
scottpilgrim10
03.09.14 | Sounds sweet! Night. |
