I first discovered Sputnikmusic in late 2009 while searching for information on the band Brand New. I was really into scene kid metalcore at the time and sputnik ripped me a new one, but I stuck around because some people were nice enough to keep feeding amazing music! One album that really hit me hard was Blue Sky Noise which was super popular on the site when I joined. At The Drive-In?s album Relationship of Command opened me up to all sorts of new possibilities with my at the time favourite genre: post-hardcore.

I had a rough time on this site for the first while, you may not know this but Funeralopolis is not my first account. I also had another account that was generally much hated that I spent about a year and a half on! I was like Andcas-tier folks. Nobody probably remembers who my old account was and I?d like to keep it that way. I am a much different person than I was back then and I can see how I came across as a self-righteous prick. This account was originally created as a troll account but somehow became my main account and I wouldn?t have it any other way.

Over time on this site I?ve come to appreciate all genres of music, as you can see my pie chart is extremely diverse and I love it. Every genre has some new experience to offer and disregarding a genre really is hurting nobody but yourself. The thing I love most about music is that it describes soundscapes, themes and images that are impossible for me to describe with words it is almost a spiritual experience.

This site has changed so much since I initially joined, almost everybody from back in the day is gone and I?m not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I definitely feel that the newer crowd is much more casual and relaxed and I think are probably more fun to be around.

I?ve always had a lot of anxiety and not many friends and in a way I feel like this site has helped me gain confidence. This site has helped me get through some dark times in my life and I don?t know where I would be without it. I feel comfortable with my music, I love it and it is something I cherish as my own even though every other person on the planet has music as well. But isn?t that the great thing about music?

In my real life I don?t really have anyone I can talk to music about and I really appreciate you guys being here for me. You give me an outlet to pursue my greatest hobby and a great place to pick me up when I am feeling down. I love this site and hopefully will continue to frequent it for a long time to come tbh < 3
