cryptside 02.26.14	Nice list, man. I think it all depends on expectations and the way that you're feeling while listening to an album. I know that there are some albums that I can only fully enjoy when I'm in a certain mood, so listening to an album for the first time while not in the right mood can affect how you perceive that album for the first couple of listens.
SirDrumsalot 02.26.14	Most recently Crosses. Didn't like it much at first, now I love it. Haken - The Mountain A Few of Dev's albums had to grow. Deconstruction and Ghost. Fleshgod Apocalypse - Labyrinth Karnivool - Sound Awake Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals RHCP - One Hot Minute Silverchair - Young Modern Tool - 10,000 Days Just to name a few.

I also feel like (for me, at least) when listening to an album for the first couple times, I find myself just sorta glossing over it and taking out tracks I immediately love before really taking hard listens for what I like and dislike about the album, which ultimately decide how I feel about the album.

SGGreenman 02.26.14	10,000 Days is another interesting example. I think people set their expectations way too high for that album since the band had just come off two classic releases, and immediately criticized the album for not being up to par. Now that the expectations have worn off, a lot more people like the album for what it is. Expectations have a big part in "growers" as well.
cryptside 02.26.14	@sg exactly, I do the same thing. I kind of subconsciously look for standout tracks, which doesn't really make it easy to appreciate a vibe or atmosphere of a record. I did that with the first Windmills By the Ocean album, among countless others.

SGGreenman 02.26.14	@Zakalwe I think Dark Side was a grower for me too, but mostly because of the huge amounts of acclaim that album got. It took me a while to really "get it"
AliW1993 02.26.14	I think mood and expectations are probably the two biggest factors. Wild Beasts' new album is the perfect example for me. I've been a fan of theirs for a while but didn't really know what to expect from it, and it made barely any impression first time around. Now, though, I've tried it in a few different settings and it's really starting to unravel.

zakalwe 02.26.14	I don't really know what I was expecting from Darkside when I first heard it, it was "the" iconic album but I got absolutely nothing from it when I first gave it a spin. I came back to it years later and found something and then to say it hit after a few more listens would be an understatement.

The odd vocals, weird messages revolving around Anne Frank, the borderline crude lyrics, and its simplistic melodies. It eventually came around as one of the more beautiful albums I've ever heard, but at first there was a lot of mixed feelings. Not to mention the almost universal acclaim surrounding the album that gave me unreasonable expectations.

ArsMoriendi 02.26.14	Nine Inch Nail's With Teeth grew on me a lot. At first I thought it was meh for NIN, now it my 3rd favorite of his. Go figure.

NordicMindset 02.26.14	I didn't expect the masterpiece AEnima was, but I expected a little better than what 10,000 Days was. Still a 4 though, but the middle of the album lags

jsaf7 02.28.14	Perfume Genius's album "Put Your Back In 2 It" grew on me quite a bit.. I somewhat liked it first but i didn't love it like i do now...
jsaf7 02.28.14	Converge is another big one for me... Wasn't feelin' them at all at first, then it slowly resonated with me more as i listened to their songs more.
climactic 02.28.14	the 2 biggest growers for me would be jane doe and boxer. i think a lot of the time albums "growing" on you just means getting adapted to a certain style, not that album in particular though
