| A 2013 List About Movies
Movies and shit. List is some of my favorite albums of the year, rdescriptions are movie talk. | 1 | | In Vain AEnigma
Prisoners. This movie kicked ass. Gyllenhaal and Jackman were outstanding, and it
was quite gripping. The torture and interrogation scenes floored me. One of my
absolute favorite of the year. 9/10 | 2 | | Sigur Ros Kveikur
Dallas Buyers Club. Get it...because Jonsi is gay. ah whatever. I enjoyed this one
quite a bit. McConaughey was pretty damn great, and Leto was good, but I'm really
annoyed that he's basically a shoe-in for the oscar. I don't think it was that good of
a role, and i feel like its just the type of thing that people will flip out over even
though its not that great. eh, either way, good flick. 8/10 | 3 | | Locktender Kafka
The Wolf of Wall Street. Pretty fun no doubt, a little long, but everyone was
phenomenal, and it made you feel pretty involved. Really great movie in Scorsese's
repertoire. I really need to get my hands on some ludes. 8.75/10 | 4 | | Protest the Hero Volition
12 Years a Slave. I've got money on this one, or #5 for best picture for the Oscars
(this one is far more deserving). I thought it was funny, because you could totally
hear the british in just about everyone's voice. Nonetheless, Ejiofor is convincing,
and the whipping is gruesome but amazing (can whipping be amazing(ask your
mom)) 9/10 | 5 | | Cryptodira Recursions
Gravity. I think this was one of the most overrated movies of the year. While it was
good, and well-made, the drama about her life at home was very superficial and
didn't connect with me. Also, not to be a nit-picking little prick, but in an integral
scene there was a major flaw in physics that bothered me. The scene in which
Clooney leaves Bullock for the rest of the movie, right before he lets go, there is
tension on the rope as if something were pulling him. Without gravity in space that
isn't possible, so when he let of of it and drifted away. realistic he should've not
moved. grrrr. 6.5/10 | 6 | | Gorguts Colored Sands
Inside Llewyn Davis. This one seemed to slip under the radar for most people, but I
found it overflowing with enjoyment. Oscar Isaac surprised me quite a bit, and this
one can easily fit in with the Coen brother's outstanding array of movies. 8.5/10 | 7 | | Man Mountain To Call Each Thing by its Right Name
Her. Phoenix is criminally under-appreciated. This movie reminds me a little bit of
Lars and the Real Girl with chubby Ryan Gosling (but better). Very intriguing, and
most definitely not for everyone, but it was equally as fun as it was dramatic. 8.5/10 | 8 | | Russian Circles Memorial
Nebraska. Will Forte was surprisingly great, as was Dern (not as surprising). Some
parts of this one didn't click with me as well as I would have liked, but it was still a
quality film from the year. It definitely has a unique aura and feel to it. 7.75/10 | 9 | | The Ocean Pelagial
American Hustle. Didn't really dig this one as much as most people did. It wasn't
unenjoyable, I just didn't really get into it. I need to re-watch it soon, but from the
first watch, I wasn't overly impressed, and Jennifer Lawrence was alright, but people
love her. 6.5/10 | 10 | | The National Trouble Will Find Me
Captain Phillips. Hanks was good, as he usually is, and it was a good movie, but I
really don't think it is deserving of Oscar talk, but there's no way it's not going to get
some (c'mon, an american hero movie that is actually decent is inevitably going to
be thrown in the race). 7.5/10 | |
