You Hate 'em, I Love 'em

Similar to my "Albums That Get No Love" list, these are albums that get lots of hate, but which I really enjoy. I'll try and keep the reasons short this time.
1AFI
Decemberunderground

I got into A.F.I. when they released "Sing The Sorrow" (lies! It was the song 'The Boy Who Destroyed The World' that did it!) and this to me seemed to be the natural progression from that one. I enjoyed when it came out, it was amazing. Nevermind that 'Miss Murder' was horribly overplayed on the radio, I still that it was a worthy follow-up. Most people disagree. Most people hate it. Oh, well.
2Bad Religion
The Gray Race

Probably the fourth or fifth list of mine that this album appears on, but who the hell cares? I really like it, and that's blasphemous to most BR fans. So one more list for the scrapbook.
3Eminem
The Eminem Show

Eminem's second and third c.d.'s are, of course, legendary. His fourth, however, marked the beginning of his decline for most. I, for one, loved it. It was a lot simpler...the beats weren't as precious or head-bobbing, but because of that, I could actually focus on the lyrics. He talked more plainly about his life than ever before; he didn't use stories or made-up scenarios to portray his feelings (although some of those scenarios were nothing short of epic). While I recognize that Em's two prior c.d.'s were better, this is still a special album to me.
4Fall Out Boy
Infinity On High

I, like most, happened to be on that Fall-Out-Boy-Bashing Bandwagon. Then I got over myself and gave them a legitimate chance...and I was pleasantly surprised. The songs were annoyingly catchy, and I found myself drawn in way more than my previous 'Boy-Bashing behaviors was comfortable with. I didn't particularly care for the amount of times he goes falsetto (it can get annoying), but all in all, I found it to be a good c.d.
5Good Charlotte
The Chronicles of Life And Death

Appears on my "Albums That Get No Love" list, so I won't go into too much detail. All I'll say is that this is probably their best c.d., keeping true to their pop-punk roots while injecting bits and hints of other styles, as well as tackling some different subject matters.
6Green Day
American Idiot

I hate that people hate this c.d. No, I don't really hate them, they're entitled to their own opinions. Still, I think I'll be forever grateful to the guy who stole the mastertapes of the original album they were supposed to put out, because that brought the world this album. The irony is that I can hardly listen to it anymore, because the radio played out so many of the good songs on it...even Jesus of Suburbia. No matter; I still find it an amazing c.d., and on good days I'll take an hour or so to listen to the entire thing.
7Hoobastank
Every Man For Himself

'The Reason' (the song) ruined Hoobastank for most people. It probably would've for me, as well, if I didn't already have the c.d. before it started getting airtime. Even with that song being one of the worst songs produced this millennium so far (in my opinion), I didn't give up hope on this band. Good thing, because this c.d. is pretty awesome! I love the skit/song that starts it out ('The Rules'/'Born To Lead'). Something different, with a bit of attitude reminiscent of 'Let It Out'. Good album...give it a chance, 'eh?
8 Underoath
They're Only Chasing Safety

"Define The Great Line" and "The Changing of Times" completely overshadow this album for most people...but not to me. As the introduction to this band, I find this c.d. amazing. It's a good thing I started here, too...probably their most accessible album (which might be why most people dislike it so much), but it also allowed me to see the growth the band made in the next album. As for "Changing of Times"...well, I just found the synthesizer too annoying. I'm glad it wasn't given a leading role in the next two albums.
