Neurosis Ranked

Truly one of the greatest and most consistent bands to ever grace this lovely planet called earth. 7/10 of these albums are p much essential...so that must tell you something! This is a personal ranking of their studio LP's, feel free to post your own opinions below.
1Neurosis
The Eye of Every Storm

Bleak, powerful, apathetic and just damn cold. Neurosis really nailed their more ambient side on this record whilst perfecting their sound overall. A masterpiece of an album that, I feel, is their very best work. 5/5
2Neurosis
Given to the Rising

Many of Neurosis' fans felt they knew where the band was heading following the release of 'TEEOS'...I can't help but feel they were mistaken. 'Given' brought back Neurosis' dark and murky sound found on their earlier releases and crafted a work of sheer brilliance. 5/5
3Neurosis
Through Silver In Blood

This album needs no real introduction. 'Through Silver' is a record filled with sheer anger and mesmerizing atmosphere; which consequently inspired a sound many would try and replicate but, mostly, always fall short. 4.5/5
4Neurosis
Enemy of the Sun

Often considered to be Neurosis' 'heaviest' record. 'Enemy' is a hugely underrated record in the bands' back catalogue and most certainly deserves more praise than it has/had received. 4.5/5
5Neurosis
Souls at Zero

A very important record for Neurosis, which saw them venture away from the inexperienced songwriting they presented on their first 2 albums. A must listen. 4/5
6Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

An album which is full of ideas but never manages to flesh them out with much conviction (at times). Still, this record is definitely worth a listen as it contains some of the bands' best material to date. 4/5
7Neurosis
Honor Found in Decay

Since its release, 'Honor' has received more than its fair share of unfair criticism. This record saw the band creating 'simpler' compositions; whilst still coming through with some stellar material. An underrated gem, just not quite as varied as previous releases. 4/5
8Neurosis
Times of Grace

Sadly, I have never really grasped this album properly. Most tracks tend to meander and not carve out an identity for themselves. However, some tracks on here are more than worth your time. 3.5/5
9Neurosis
The Word As Law

Neurosis before they were really considered 'Neurosis'. This album (and their debut) both suffer from average musicianship and occasional flashes of brilliance. For the most part, an underwhelming release. 2.5/5
10Neurosis
Pain of Mind

Mostly the same as 'TWAL', unrefined and rather lackluster. 2.5/5
