Forever Blind
The quintessential At the Gates song. There is a nice contrast between the tremolo-picked harmonies, which capture pure melancholy, and the thrashy, string-skipping riffs, which demonstrate the more aggressive side of At the Gates that is further developed on SOTS. | | 2 | The Swarm
One of the best openers could ever ask for on an album. The transition from just a violin and cello duet to heavily distorted tremolo-picked harmonies on guitar with the drums playing double bass works very well. | | 3 | Unto Others

01.20.14 | I also really enjoyed Under a Serpent Sun for a while; it was my favorite ATG song in high school. However, I'm afraid I listened to it way too much, and it actually kind of annoys me a bit. Mostly because of the spoken word in the middle.
And I have listened to Gardens of Grief, and while I enjoy the EP in its entirety, there isn't a single song I really, really like off of it. They weren't much of a melodeath band at that point. | witchxrapist

01.20.14 | SOTS has been my favorite ATG album for the 7 - 8 years I've been familiar with them. TSD is pretty good, but it's too short and The Fevered Wound sucks. WFIKTBD has some miss tracks as well, and TRISTO is too ADHD for me. There are some great riffs to be found on it, but they neglect to develop them and just jump over to the next riff (or time signature). | witchxrapist
