4 Concerts I Can't Wait To See

self-explanatory
1Mogwai
Rave Tapes

April 25th Fitzgerald's Upstairs, Houston, TX... These Glaswegians have yet to disappoint me with any album I've heard (I've yet to get this one though), and with such a diverse discography with a unique evolution. My dad's also coming down to see them with me, so I'll get to share another first time concert experience (i.e. Neurosis) with him.
2The Ocean
Pelagial

March 13th SXSW, Austin, TX (hopefully)... This one's gonna be a bit risky, I'm already committed to stay the full week for South By, so it all hinges on getting into the showcase, wherever it may be (probably Mohawk, maybe Red 7). If I miss it it'll suck even more though since they play Houston 2 days later when I can't really leave Austin, but fuck it I'm not complaining about being "stuck" at SXSW. Haven't seen these guys either, and I'll love getting a chance to see some proper German prog-metal live.
3Russian Circles
Memorial

February 9th Fitzgerald's Upstairs, Houston, TX (again)... Haven't heard the new one, but I'll probably be able to decide that night whether I want that or Entrench (oh yeah, KEN mode and fucking Inter Arma opening). 3 bands with vastly different sounds but somehow it seems like an excellent pairing.
4The Sword
Warp Riders

February 14th, Fitzgerald's Upstairs, Houston, TX... Seems like all the concerts I want to see happen at this venue, and that's fine by me. A second round with The Sword, and my first with Big Business. BB had a cool interview on the Road Snacks Podcast (farmtoartist.blogspot.com), and now I can see them in action. Also, The Sword NEEDS to play their cover of Working Man, the last chance I could've seen them come by Texas I was in Chicago so practically all of my friends (who share similar musical interests) got to see them cover a classic by the 3 best Canadians of all time. Fingers crossed.
