Artists That I Hated At First But Grew To Love.

Just like peanut butter for me, these are artists that when I first tried out their stuff, I totally rdisliked. But was intriguing enough for me to come back to it, several times, digesting it better rat each try ...until I eventually got used to it and became a fan!
1Death Grips
The Money Store

I'm sure I'm not the only one who was on the fence with these guys at the
beginning. Their sound was so new and unapologetically harsh that it really turned
me off at first. But when I dove deeper into the deep web of obscure lyricism and
insane beats, those death grips gripped the **** out me.
2M.I.A.
Matangi

Yet another artist whose abrasive production and new wave sound clashed with me
in a violent way to start off with. Eventually, M.I.A.'s colorful esthetics, bright
personality and unique vocal style won me over. And the crazy production just
made that much more appealing after a while.
3Nine Inch Nails
The Downward Spiral

Lynch me if you want, but I remember absolutely hating all of Trents stuff up until
ghosts came out. That album was a total game-changer for me, and made me
revisit his other stuff with a more open mind. His voice stopped bugging me so
much and his instrumentals made me appreciate industrial music for the first time.
When I looked further into the lyrical content, I stopped considering The
Downwards Spiral as the most overrated album ever.
4At the Drive-In
Relationship of Command

ATDI is a hard band to get into... but when you do, it's a huge pay off: Their
arrangements where so complex, the lyricism so cryptic, and the performance so
raw that it took a while to take it all in. Now, they are one of my favorite bands
ever.
5Tim Hecker
Harmony in Ultraviolet

Like most drone & ambient pieces, his is the kind of stuff you need to be in the
right mood and mindset for. I considered it just uneventful and dull background
noise until I listened mindfully to Harmony all the way through in pitch black
darkness. It changed my whole view on the genre.
6Animal Collective
Merriweather Post Pavilion

I did not understand the hype about this bombastic mix of outlandish sounds. Once
again, I listened more patiently and it became clear to me.
7Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band
Trout Mask Replica

Ok, I don't think it is ever possible to truly love this album in its entirety. But
Trout Mask is definitely a grower. My first reaction to it was not hard to imagine,
but when I found out about the meticulous way it had been crafted, I gave it as
many listens as necessary to not consider it utter crap. Still don't know what to
think of this thing...
8 Nickelback
The Best of Nickelback

Fist time I was like "This is some mainstream radio-frendly bull****" But it grew o...
jk, it's still bs.
