My 13 Favourite Albums of '13
This was very difficult for me to assemble: I listened to some music outside my comfort zone rto try and make this list as objectively subjective as possible, but at the end of the day I rchoose bands I was comfortable with. I discovered innumerable new bands this year, so my rmusic taste has grown a bit, but old favourites persist like C&C, Kanye West, ADTR, rand FOB. rPlease forgive some of the horrible albums. |
| 1 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan One of Us Is the Killer
Takes the best of mathcore and adds a mainstream touch. Better melodies compared to their previous albums to go with their
unique time signatures. |
| 2 | | August Burns Red Rescue and Restore
Best metalcore album in years. Inspirational and fun. BMTH's Sempiternal was also a solid album, but something about the mixing
makes it unbearable to listen to on speakers. |
| 3 | | Counterparts The Difference between Hell and Home
Damn, love me some melodic hardcore. Funeral for a Friend's new album was also pretty solid but this beat it out. |
| 4 | | Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Descension
I always have a weak spot for CoCa. Number City was one of their best songs in ages and the first half of the album is amazing. |
| 5 | | Stone Sour House of Gold and Bones - Part 2
The second half of the album rocks hard. '82 and Do Me A Favour are awesome tracks. |
| 6 | | Arctic Monkeys AM |
| 7 | | Gorguts Colored Sands |
| 8 | | Dream Theater Dream Theater
My first DT album, so this deserves a spot just because it introduced me to their previous albums. |
| 9 | | The Strokes Comedown Machine |
| 10 | | Kanye West Yeezus
Damn Kanye West. I don't know why I like him so much... |
| 11 | | Queens of the Stone Age ...Like Clockwork |
| 12 | | A Day to Remember Common Courtesy |
| 13 | | Fall Out Boy Save Rock and Roll
Don't hurt me :'( I'm allowed to like one pop album per year, aren't I? |
