iTokoloshe's 25 Of 2010
The 25 metal albums that rocked my socks off in 2010. These are in no particular order. |
| 1 | | As I Lay Dying The Powerless Rise
Consistent, great breakdowns and another good effort from the band |
| 2 | | Avenged Sevenfold Nightmare
What a response to losing The Rev. Its epic, perfectly constructed and has some moments that just blow you away |
| 3 | | Black Tusk Taste the Sin
Dirty, simple and fun |
| 4 | | Bleed From Within Empire
Hard work pays off. Another up and coming band ready to take over the world |
| 5 | | Bring Me The Horizon There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It
Ignoring the haters and transforming into one of the most amazing bands around. The songs featuring Lights are just on another level |
| 6 | | Bullet for My Valentine Fever
Another fantastic album from the Welsh wizards. Could've been a bit more consistent in terms of heaviness, but there are some killer riffs and songs on this album |
| 7 | | Cancer Bats Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones
I dare you not to headbang and mosh to this. Not humanly possible |
| 8 | | Daath Daath
Heavy, techy, brutal and clever music. |
| 9 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
They keep getting better, 8 string guitars add depth to the sound and the riffs bash you |
| 10 | | Devil Sold His Soul Blessed & Cursed
Beauty and the Beast in musical form |
| 11 | | Dimmu Borgir Abrahadabra
This is what Dimmu have always strived to sounds like. Epic stuff |
| 12 | | Exodus Exhibit B: The Human Condition
Rifftastic from the under-rated thrash metal pioneers. I prefer Zetro as vocalist, but Rob Dukes and his anger are growing on me |
| 13 | | Fear Factory Mechanize
Machines making organic sounds |
| 14 | | Ghost B.C. Opus Eponymous
So catchy, so evil! |
| 15 | | Kvelertak Kvelertak
It's so good that you'll sing along to lyrics in Norwegian that you don't understand. How these guys manage to blend all these styles together amazes me |
| 16 | | Murderdolls Women and Children Last
The lyrics are hilarious, the riffs are funky, the delivery is cool. You can't help but rock out when listening to it |
| 17 | | Ov Hell The Underworld Regime
Ignore who the band members are, drop the expectations and you'll find that the music is great modern black metal |
| 18 | | Parkway Drive Deep Blue
The Byron Bay boys just keep getting better. Its brutal, its uplifting, its epic. Visit Byron Bay one day and you'll understand these guys better, its a little corner of heaven |
| 19 | | Rob Zombie Hellbilly Deluxe 2
Another great slab of horror movie fun from the RZ guys |
| 20 | | Rolo Tomassi Cosmology
Its just way out there, in another galaxy, but so captivating |
| 21 | | Skeletonwitch Forever Abomination
Keeping it simple, but doing it so well |
| 22 | | Soulfly Omen
Max tearing us a new one with really catchy songs |
| 23 | | Stone Sour Audio Secrecy
The most consistent Stoner Sour album up until this point. Corey puts in a great balanced performance |
| 24 | | The Amity Affliction Youngbloods
Another Aussie band doing great things. You can feel the Aussie flair and lifestyle coming through the music |
| 25 | | The Damned Things Ironiclast
Its fun, its surprisingly good and gets better each time you listen to it |
