11.26.13 | checking out 1 right now |
Voivod
11.26.13 | I just realized I haven't rated the new Fates Warning album. Great list. |
oltnabrick
11.26.13 | 8 is awful. Idk how you guys all like that.
11 is my favorite album you put on this list. |
MasBarHigeuoris21
11.26.13 | Props for putting 29, 35-37, and 50. The only thing I think you are missing is Vespar by Entropia. It's a black, post, sludge metal album. Also thanks for not listing The Mountain by Haken. It's absurdly overrated. |
Willie
11.26.13 | Listening to the Ovid's Withering album right now. It could possibly break into the high side of my Top 50. Maybe in the 40s somewhere. More technical/progressive death metal. |
MO
11.26.13 | the fact you have gorguts on here continues to solidify you as one of the best staff |
Judio!
11.26.13 | Nice list, but have you listened to Ulver - Messe I.X-V.X? That's probably my no. 1 pick for the year. |
evilford
11.26.13 | wonder who featured this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Willie
11.26.13 | --Nice list, but have you listened to Ulver - Messe I.X-V.X? --
I haven't really heard that one as much as I wanted to. Thanks for the reminder.
--wonder who featured this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--
Ha ha. I didn't. It had to be Voivod. All staff have the power to feature lists, and it was featured at the same time he posted. |
gosk8n
11.26.13 | nice picks happy to see 8 on here |
SirDrumsalot
11.26.13 | Good to see 4! But there are a few that I'm not too sure about deserving to be on the list...
If you haven't checked out The Mountain by Haken you definitely should! |
Nagrarok
11.26.13 | Heard 14 out these, all of which were at least enjoyable, some will likely make my own top 2013 albums. Great list Willie. |
evilford
11.26.13 | nice to see gorguts and voivod |
Ecnalzen
11.26.13 | Nice. 1, 12, 17 and 49 are all pretty awesome. |

Storm In A Teacup
11.27.13 | If my dad and I fused our tastes together we would probably come up with a list like this. Great stuff |

11.27.13 | willie you never reviewed wilderness lol |
theacademy
11.27.13 | haha awesome list |
Pennywise_M
11.27.13 | Damn Willie goes hard as fuck.
Nice list, some awesome albums here m/ |
Willie
11.27.13 | --Only nitpick: did 40 get released in your native land this year? Because I had it on my list last year and if I can double dip I totally will, dammit!--
It did get officially released this year. Here is the blurb from the promo release:
**New Jersey based progressive label Sensory Records released the debut full-length from IN THE SILENCE, A Fair Dream Gone Mad, in May of this year (e-mail sent October of 2013), following the band's own self-released version which they sold out of twice before joining Sensory.**
--so you like metal?--
Tunnel vision?
--If my dad and I fused our tastes together we would probably come up with a list like this. Great stuff--
Ha ha. Thanks?
--willie you never reviewed wilderness lol--
I know, I know. I guess there's still time. |
Voivod
11.27.13 | --wonder who featured this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--
Ha ha. I didn't. It had to be Voivod. All staff have the power to feature lists, and it was featured at the same time he posted.
I don't know how to feature a list to save my own life haha, honest. The only way I know how to feature something is to submit the request to the site mods. |
GnarlyShillelagh
11.27.13 | forgot about 1, it's been a while since i listened to it
i checked it out earlier this year only because of your 4.6. great album |
Mister Twister
11.27.13 | I have no idea where I would make a last-minute recommendation, but there's this album called The Brutal State by a band named Exarsis. It slays incredibly hard. My personal AotY. You should check it out if you would. |
HorrorBusiness78
11.27.13 | 3 and 4 rule. |
Voivod
11.27.13 | The Exarsis album was nominated album of the month in Metal Hammer Greece. |
CK
11.27.13 | I definitely don't agree with you that Conduit has a similar sound to Hours |
Mister Twister
11.27.13 | The word "nominated" is a touch disappointing since it implies it didn't win ;_;
That album is absolutely killer though. |
hikingmetalpunk
11.28.13 | missing immolation & darkthrone |
Chrisjon89
11.28.13 | you might enjoy Julia Holter - Loud City Song |
Willie
11.28.13 | --I definitely don't agree with you that Conduit has a similar sound to Hours--
Yeah. I wrote the descriptions quickly and that one is kind of misleading.
Will check out Exarsis, Immolation and Julia Holter. I thought the Darkthrone album was decent. |
KILL
11.28.13 | 7 suckssssssssssssssssss but some great shit |
Acanthus
11.28.13 | First list in a long time (from you) that didn't really have anything that caught my eye.
Still a sweet list though, some much needed variety from the Sputnik norm! |
Gnocchi
11.28.13 | I know you probably won't have the time to check these out but dude:
Ataraxie, Eye Of Solitude, Deos, Colosus, Obsidian Tongue, Master, Grave Miasma, Craven Idol, etc.
p.s. Can someone get there hands on the Alcest promos that are floating around? You guys could score an interview with Neige. |
BeneaththeDarkOcean
11.29.13 | I applaud you for putting 39 on this list. Of course, I'm a fan of nu-metal/industrial in general, but it's ballsy to put something that was rated mostly mediocre by the rest of Sputnik, I really enjoy that album. Great production helps, too. |
Emim
11.29.13 | Bookmarked.
All the stuff I've heard off of this I've liked, and our tastes usually run pretty similarly, so I think I'll dig most of the rest. |
TheNotrap
11.29.13 | Slow year. Check Kreator's Dying Alive if you wish. Cool live. |
