10,000 Review Hits
My review of The Sword's Apocryphon finally hit 10,000 views. Even though this means pretty much nothing, I'm glad that it's been seen so much, and nobody has been compelled to give it a thumbs down (although, I may have brought a neg with that comment). These are how I would rate my own reviews, based on how good I think they are from a writing standpoint, not how much I liked the album. |
12 | | Mogwai Earth Division
I remember I wrote this one when I had it in my head that I would try to write a review of every new album I listened to (ambitious right?), and I was writing it just to write it. Didn't really go that in depth. |
11 | | Neurosis and Jarboe Neurosis and Jarboe
The sophomore slump, plain and simple, and my most negative review. I do remember being physically comfortable while writing the review. Like literally I just felt good while I was sitting down writing it. Really weird to remember something that insignificant about the review, but it's the biggest positive about, so... yeah. |
10 | | Inter Arma Sundown
I was fairly disappointed in how the review turned out. However, I really felt compelled to put it up anyway since I had spent a particularly long time editing it to get it at least passable. This review may not even be THAT bad, but it just feels odd to read from my perspective, which is biased anyway. |
9 | | The Ocean Fluxion
Just kinda meh again. |
8 | | Red Sparowes Every Red Heart Shines Toward The Red...
Pretty average... But I freaking love this album, I didn't sound even close to as passionate about this album in the review as a do in real life. I guess I was trying to hard to keep emotions out of the mix in my reviews at the time. |
7 | | The Nocturnes Aokigahara
I think it's a good review, even if it is a bit too paired down. However, there's not to much significance to it other than it being another review. |
6 | | Skeleton Coast Skeleton Coast
I think this review was unique in that I brought in my live perspective of the band in a good way. I was also really happy to be writing about an up and coming Dallas area band, and have them see my review, which is very humbling seeing as this isn't by any means a magnate of a site in the music blogosphere. (Check their Facebook if you don't believe me) |
5 | | American Sharks American Sharks
One that I was compelled to write because it didn't have a review already. Nothing to special about the making of, except that I picked up the album during an in-store performance at Cactus Music in Houston, TX. |
4 | | Feist Let It Die
My first review (and still nostalgic as hell). I remember I decided to write this as my first review as a means of forcing myself to branch out from what I normally listen to, and I thank this album for getting me into all of Feist's work (Broken Social Scene too), and helping me to broaden the range of music I listen to. I think it was my lack of familiarity with the genre that made my first review not complete shit.
Also... shout out to breakingthefragile (if you see this). Your comment on this album really made me feel like it was worthwhile to keep trying to write reviews here, and I know any number of users could've gone straight for the jugular and left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Sputnik. It meant a lot to get that vote of confidence so early in my reviewing career. |
3 | | Bison B.C. Lovelessness
I was thrilled to finally get my hands on this album, and not have a review already written to quell my desire to write about Bison. This is the one review where I feel I took in the scope of a band's career with clarity, and applied it to the album I was reviewing fairly seamlessly. |
2 | | The Sword Apocryphon
Still the only review up for it. I feel like I summed it up pretty well, and hit a happy medium between enough length to be descriptive and enough conciseness not to drag on. |
1 | | Red Fang Whales and Leeches
This is the only one that I prewrote, and I think that it shows. Seeing as I'm not paid for these, I'll probably just stick to writing from the hip. |
