Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name (...and Maiden for getting me into metal)
King Crimson - Epitaph (played an important part in my early fascination with progressive rock)

Deep Purple - Child in Time
R.E.M. - Drive (still hits me every time)
Fleetwood Mac - Dreams
Genesis - The Carpet Crawlers (arguably a few of theirs surpass this but it has long been my personal favourite)

Pink Floyd/Yes - really Wish You Were Here and Close to the Edge as a whole, made me realize some albums are far greater than the sum of their parts.
I could go on but I won't. And on an unrelated note, why do people who love Nights in White Satin still name it wrong so often?

10.18.13 | "Genesis - The Carpet Crawlers (arguably a few of theirs surpass this but it has long been my personal favourite)"
This is exactly how I feel about The Lamia. The likes of Firth of Fith and Supper's Ready may be superior in many ways when looked at from a more objective point of view but The Lamia is easily the one that had the biggest impact on me and will (most likely) always be my favourite. |
