Depressing Music

These are just some albums that sound really sad to me. Stuff like this is best enjoyed when life has you down and you feel like everything is pointless. The funny thing about sad sounding music is that the best time to listen to it is when you're already sad.I listed the genre (sorry if I unintentionally offend anyone with any of the genre labels) under each album, as well as a my own comments under several albums.
1Slint
Spiderland

Probably the saddest album I know.
POST-ROCK
2Joy Division
Closer

POST-PUNK
3Radiohead
OK Computer

ALTERNATIVE ROCK / EXPERIMENTAL
4Minutemen
Double Nickels on the Dime

This album probably doesn't sound sad to most people, but at times it sounds so sad to me. The vocal delivery sounds so sincere and heartfealt.
POST-PUNK / HARDCORE PUNK
5Codeine
The White Birch

Slow, bleak, lifeless, and depressing are the best words to describe this pioneering work in the sub-genre of "slow core".
INDIE
6Colin Stetson
New History Warfare, Vol 2: Judges

This basically sounds like your listening to people just weeping their hearts out.
JAZZ
7Dead Can Dance
Within the Realm of a Dying Sun

Beautifully sad.
POST-PUNK (more accurately, "dark wave")
8Have a Nice Life
Deathconsciousness

This is a really calming, depressing, and unique sounding album.
SHOEGAZE
9Le Pre Ou Je Suis Mort
Le Pre Ou Je Suis Mort

Cathartic screamo that definitely sounds a lot less harsh than other bands in the genre.
SCREAMO/POST-HARDCORE
10American Football
American Football

This is a really beautiful, and even somewhat catchy album. It has a really reflective or perhaps nostalgic feel to me for some reason. At times it can come off as happy and upbeat, and at other times it seems sad.
EMO / INDIE / MATH ROCK
