10.08.13 | I think Stryper has been the only "decent" christian band |
Suddy
10.08.13 | never really liked stryper and i would consider that "contemporary christian" |

Masochist
10.08.13 | Newsboys are awesome. But I have a question...when you say CCM, do you mean overtly Christian, or simply a Christian band with broad Christian-based themes? Because if you're open to the latter, the list of good Christian albums deepens immensely.
Also...can I include hard rock outfits? Because I don't care what anyone says, I still love me some Demon Hunter. |

10.08.13 | Training For Utopia > Demon Hunter
It's actually hard to imagine the same guys being in both bands. |
Friday13th
10.08.13 | @MrSirLordGentleman in the mainstream maybe. There's tons of great stuff that never made it nearly as big as Jesus Freak or To Hell with the Devil.
Larry Norman - Only Visiting This Planet (1972; first Christian rock artist; see my review)
Kerry Livgren (from Kansas) - Seeds of Change (1980; it's got Dio!)
Saviour Machine - S/T (1993 goth metal; see my review)
The Prayer Chain - Mercury (1995; it's like radiohead b4 radiohead)
Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura (2007; prog rock concept album)
There's definitly more, but there's a small taste. |

10.08.13 | I always liked Needtobreathe a bit.
He's not necessarily contemporary in the common sense, but Woven Hand is brilliant. he makes some of the darkest and deepest music I have ever heard, and he still retains Christian lyrics, which is pretty impressive. Some of Woven Hand's material is heavier than black metal, no kidding. Brilliant act, they are. |
Project
10.08.13 | Dustin Kensrue's upcoming worship album. And mewithoutYou always deserves a plug.
but like Masochist said, the list is way bigger if you define "contemporary Christian" more broadly. |

10.08.13 | yeah i always thought it was about jesus and his sacrifice n shit but the chorus does kinda suggest something romantic... maybe he wanted to bone jesus? idk |
tommygun
10.08.13 | yea i'm in two minds about it cos
'you gave up a wife and a family'
afaik jesus never had a wife or family?
or perhaps he means 'gave up' as a way of saying jesus chose not to have a wife n family so he could do whatever he does idk i don't know much about christianity
it makes me happier inside to think it's about two blokes ruddering so yea gonna stick with that |
