What Do You See In Jazz?

In the purpose of starting a mild shit-storm that will hopefully stir some intelligent discussion I will state the following: I can't stand jazz. I hear technically gifted players, sometimes extremely talented, dumping away all their potential in a structurally uncreative genre with puerile populist aesthetics and frankly banal, first-order moral and spiritual concerns. The only artist I've found not guilty of this last charge is Mr.Coltrane, and yet he too suffers from all the genres other shortcomings, and even about his spirituality there is a feeling of superficiality I can't seem to shake off. So, jazz fans, I ask you, what do you see in the genre? Clearly there's something I'm missing here, so help me out, maybe rec some albums too, won't ya?
1John Coltrane
A Love Supreme

These are jazz albums I've gotten quite close to enjoying.
2Charles Mingus
The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady

The only structurally interesting jazz album I've gotten around to listening to.
3Art Blakey
4Miles Davis
Bitches Brew
5Franz Liszt
Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in A major

Music I actually enjoy.
