| Best Concerts at Roskilde 2006
These are all of the full concerts I saw at Roskilde Festival 2006 ranked. | 1 | Roger Waters
What a majestic show. 3 hours long, and featuring Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. The sound was fabulous (new speakers had been brought it, to provide surround-sound for the voices speaking throughout the DSOTM album etc.) It was really an experience. ****** | 2 | Morrissey
Just seeing Morrissey step out onto the stage and pose for the photographers was an experience. His performance was very energetic, and the mood of the crowd was fantastic. I thought he played too much from Ringleaders of the Tormentors, but I knew he'd do that. Fantastic show. ***** | 3 | Death Cab For Cutie
This was a real surprise. I was expecting Ben Gibbard to stand still and sing his songs, but he was full of energy, and the crowd was really into it. I was surprised that so many people showed up and knew the lyrics to practically all of the songs. Death Cab For Cutie have become more popular in Denmark than I expected. ***** | 4 | Sigur Ros
I may not be quite objective here. This was a fantastic show, no doubt, probably one most people would give full marks. Sigur Ros' music doesn't speak to me that much, though, and I would be lying to say I enjoyed it more than Morrissey, for instance. Still a fantastic, engaging performance. ***** | 5 | Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan got very mixed reviews. It's easy to say that he can't sing anymore, that he changes his owns songs too much, and just stands by his piano without doing anything. It's true, too. But I've seen him before, and I came to the show expecting that. The setlist wasn't much different from last time, and the show was a bit boring in the middle, but the atmosphere of the crowd was great, and the song-choices/performances at the end of the set were fantastic. He played Summer Days, one of the best songs of his recent career, and Masters of War, one of his most powerful classics, and as an encore he played (as always) All Along the Watchtower and Like a Rolling Stone. What a fantastic ending. **** | 6 | Martha Wainwright
This was a very intimate show. Martha was alone on-stage with just her accoustic guitar. Her voice sounded just as incredible live as on her album, and a lot of the songs worked really well played in this stripped-down manner. She interacted with the crowd a lot, and talked about the songs she played (among which a cover of Leonard Cohen's Tower of Song and a Louden Wainwright number I can't remember). All-in-all a very intimate performance. **** | 7 | Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys played the right songs, and had an energetic live performance. There was nothing to complain about, but then there wasn't much out of the ordinary either. Still a solid performance. **** | 8 | Silver Jews
Basically the same as above. I liked the songs they played and I liked their performance, but they didn't blow me away either. **** | 9 | Why?
Why? were pretty cool live. The vocalist sings/raps as well as he does on the record, and they reproduce their sound quite well. A solid performance. **** | |

07.28.06 | So the descriptions didn't work. Hurray for wasting time. Basically 7-9 are interchangable. They played their songs and played them well, but they weren't anything out of the ordinary either. All of the full shows I saw were really good, in my opinion, so there's no low score on this list. | The Jungler
07.28.06 | I desperatly want to see Sigur Ros live. I imagine/heave heard they are great. |
