09.08.13 | No Rush, no credibility. Sorry. |
Amphoteric
09.08.13 | I love the drums on Pelican's The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw, they're nothing flashy whatsoever but they fit the music and accompany the guitars so well. |

09.08.13 | nothin but truth in this thread. Except for that bit about no RUSH=no cookie. Peart is awesome but he
never really blows me away.
@imh, Do u you listen to ISIS? I think he has a style similar to Danny Carey. |
GnarlyShillelagh
09.08.13 | Is this ranked? Because Ben koller shits on everyone on this list hard
Also agree with everything everyone has said |

09.08.13 | there's nothing appealing to me about double bass at all. it sounds cheesy and lacks skill |
jmh886
09.08.13 | Haven't heard Ulcerate. I'll add em to the queue. Whether you like Periphery or not, it's pretty undeniable that Matt Halpern is a beast. I'm not crazy about Rush, but yes Neil Peart is kind of good. And like I said these are who I think are the best drummers, just my favorite albums for listening to the drum parts. |
jmh886
09.08.13 | aren't* |

09.08.13 | I do listen to Isis. Drummer never stood out to me. |

09.08.13 | It's honestly been quite a while since I've rocked some Isis. I'll relisten soon. I honestly think Absent Light might over take Danny Carey for me. |

09.09.13 | dude i didn't see it on that PTW record =/ opposite is good, but his linear grooves sound the same all over the album, i'd have to say an honorable mention would be steve kleisath from album hearts once nourished (shai hulud) or advent of a miracle (strongarm) |

jmh886
09.09.13 | Yea my list of personal preferences to listen to is "shit." And so are your tastes. I appreciate the constructive comments on here. @thegoosetavern, I love the drumming on all Shai Hulud albums, especially the new one. And I thought Hornbrook was perfect on YCBY. |
Judio!
09.09.13 | Dave Lombardo on "South of Heaven" is pretty sweet. Also, as much as Lars Ulrich sucked on the later albums, I think he did an extraordinarily great job on "...And Justice For All" and a great job on "Master of Puppets." |
WeepingBanana
09.09.13 | george hurley can teach these fuckers a thing for FIVE about drumming |
jmh886
09.09.13 | So could a thousand other drummers. That's not the point of the list. |

09.09.13 | I'd have Mastodon's first 2 on here |
jmh886
09.09.13 | Yea I love that dude.^ |
jmh886
09.20.13 | So I listened to a bunch of Ulcerate today. Drummer's pretty awesome. I get pretty bored of most death metal drumming. It's all awesome, but its hard to be very creative when it's just constant blast beats. This guy does a great job, but I still prefer a different style if I had to choose. But this band's pretty awesome so thanks for the rec. |

09.20.13 | this list |

09.20.13 | Honestly, where is Chris Pennie's performance on Calculating Infinity by DEP? Honestly beats any of
the examples you've listed. Also Blake Richardson's drum performances on later BTBAM albums are a lot
better than on Colors and much more varied/interesting.
lol @ Periphery.
|
jmh886
09.20.13 | I mean it's hard to pick 10. I love DEP. Once again these are my favorite drum parts. So it is possible for any album to beat another one when it is a matter of personal preference. Also, do people who not like periphery honestly think Matt Halpern isn't good or something? I find that pretty hard to believe. Either theyre just hating cuz its the thing to do or they've never heard or seen him play. Youtube some of his videos. |

Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
Vektor - Black Future

as well as any Rush album |
NastyCrab
09.20.13 | I think Billy Rymer's performance on OP is better than Pennie's on CI.
Come at me, sputbros. |
dsroka005
09.20.13 | honestly I have to say it but also.. The Used's first album has some great drumming |
jmh886
09.20.13 | Yea Science is dope. So is Make Yourself. Though Jose (i think thats his name) has started to suck on recent albums. Im not a huge rush or the who fan though I give props. |
Sapient.
09.20.13 | yeah 8 absolutely rules, there's patterns in his playing, but they're so subtly all over the place that the average ear would think it was just improv |

probably the most solid drummers to ever exist |
jmh886
09.20.13 | THought he was only around for one album, I think Dave Abruzszseseses (no clue how to spell it) fuckin ruled on vs. Matt Cameron's no slouch but I think that was the best drummer they ever had. |

jmh886
09.21.13 | Ya hakke rules. Same with pridgen. As much as i love dave grohl, he is incredibly overrated as a drummer. Taylor Hawkins is way better. |
