09.03.13 | I have the 598's. They are worth every penny. Easily the most comfortable headphones I've ever had/tried on.. can wear them for 10 hours straight and not even feel them. Sound quality is fantastic as well. |

demigod!
09.04.13 | i got 201's back in January and haven't had any issues with them. they sound great for $50 headphones. |
Masochist
09.04.13 | Those HD598s are some of the prettiest headphones I've ever seen in that price range. But it depends
on what music you plan on listening to. |

09.04.13 | i probably listen to 50% indie/alt rock (pretty standard stuff) and 50% classical. from my experience with my brother's momentums, it's classical where it makes a huge difference, particularly on orchestral pieces.
i'm not quite sure i have the ears to tell the difference between 598s and slightly lower-tier headphones, but then again, my ears might get trained better and i'd rather have something good already than "outgrow" an inferior pair, so to speak |
frigyourgenre
09.04.13 | shood hav got da beatz they hav gud bass you kno |
Kubrick
09.04.13 | @toxin
I can't recommend the 598's with enough enthusiasm. Especially considering you listen to a lot of classical (I listen to quite a bit as well) - these are particularly excellent for that. On top of that you literally will not find a more comfortable pair of headphones. I highly doubt you will regret spending the extra money. |
toxin.
09.04.13 | sweet man. sounds awesome. what kind of amp do you use with it? |
Kubrick
09.04.13 | I have a Fiio E10:
http://www.amazon.com/Fiio-E10-USB-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B005VO7LG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378263732&sr=8-1&keywords=fiio+e10
The really nice thing about these headphones though as opposed to most high-end pairs is that they have a really low impedance (50 ohms) so they are actually very easy to run. Honestly, you don't even really need to use an amp with them if you don't want to spend the extra money. With the one I have, I don't even have to turn the volume halfway up before it's very loud. If you do get an amp though, any more more expensive than the one I have is complete overkill. |
toxin.
09.04.13 | sweet, in that case i'll probably invest amp money into a cheap set of closed headphones that i can
take on car/plane trips or even just walking to/from class. ty for all your help! |
Kubrick
09.04.13 | Yeah honestly that's money better spent. The 598's definitely aren't meant to be mobile haha. No problem dude! ^__^ |
Matthaios
09.05.13 | I have the HD558's. I couldn't decide between them, the 518 or 598 so I just opted for the compromise. I love them and have used them every day for nearly 1.5 years. They sound fantastic and have actually lowered in value, but they are open, so if you're looking for something closed go for the 448s or something around that price range. AKG also has a good wide range to offer. |
