10 Awesome Moments Vol.2 |
1 | | Bison B.C. Dark Ages
Two Day Booze - 1:08-1:37
Galloping drums and chugging riff: This song opens with a furious riff and then a minute later, this one scorches the shit out your ears. |
2 | | Baroness Yellow and Green
Eula - 4:15-5:12
Solo into last verse: A beautiful song with a powerful guitar solo closes out the first half of Baroness' double album. |
3 | | Agalloch The Mantle
The Hawthorne Passage - 3:45-5:05
Bluesy solo: A not-very-metal guitar solo highlights the first half of this instrumental epic and, holy hell, it fits so well! Most people seem to be enamored more with the post-rock 2nd half of this song but I dig the first half more, probably because of this solo. |
4 | | Carcass Surgical Steel
Captive Bolt Pistol - 2:12-2:31
Solo: Speaking of guitar solos, Bill Steer constructs a goddamn vortex at about 2:12 on the "single" of Carcass' new album. |
5 | | Death Symbolic
Without Judgement - 1:47-2:12
First chorus: This is probably Death's catchiest chorus with an awesome drum transition and sick riff. |
6 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
Royal - 2:47-3:32
Breakdown/end of song: One of the heavier songs on Diamond Eyes ends with possibly the 'Tones' heaviest moment of their career. That breakdown owns any bs some shitball Deathcore band could come up with. |
7 | | Cave In Jupiter
Requiem - 5:57-6:50
End of muted chorus into breakdown (I think?): This is Cave In's masterpiece if you ask me (not just the album but this song in general) with all it's twists and turns and extra emo (in a good way) moments. There's a song on Jupiter called "Big Riff' but perhaps the one that smashes it's way into your hear holes at 6:04 is just as big. |
8 | | Mastodon Leviathan
Megalodon - 1:20-2:26
The part where the song finally picks up: This song starts out kind of messy as if it's not sure where it's going but finally gains its intended direction once that tasty Southern guitar interlude stops the chaos for a few seconds. Then the awesomest moment in Mastodon's career mashes you hard. You think it's over at about 1:55 but then get pummeled once more. Thanks! |
9 | | Burst Lazarus Bird
Nineteenhundred - 3:36-4:46
Chorus-y part x2: This whole song is great and finally reaches it's apex with this soaring chorus that repeats for good measure. Not a big fan of the 2 minute long fade out with the horns 'n such but, you know, that's like?my opinion, man. |
10 | | Cattle Decapitation Monolith Of Inhumanity
Your Demise - 1:48-2:56
Lead up to 2nd verse, 2nd chorus, 3rd verse: This shit right here scrambles minds like mad! The break right before the lead up to the 2nd verse is the only reprieve in this fucker; after that, it's all punishment. Also, the chorus is one catchy mf. How could this song be such a sing-a-long? |
