Dark Metal

Part 3 of an ongoing series (well actually not ongoing, this is probably the last part). Since I'm a lazy fuck, instead of making separate lists for black and doom metal (ie: my favorite subgenres) I'll just make one for both. Anyway here it is, list is 66 black metal and 33 doom metal favorites. It's not really ranked apart from the first few of each genre either.

Stronghold

The most unique album in an absolutely stellar discography. Whereas their other
albums are more epic in scope, this album is dark and brooding. The atmosphere on
this is perfect...it's pretty much the soundtrack to Mordor.

Really atmospheric dsbm from Jordan. The production is awful, you can't even hear
the drums for example...yet somehow it all works. And there's a sweet Forgotten
Tomb cover too.

Pretty much the album that made me appreciate black metal. Back when this came
out, I actually kinda disliked the genre. I gave this a chance though because it
sounded interesting, and slowly but surely it opened my eyes to the awesomeness
of black metal. Very significant album.

One look at the cover and you will probably guess that this is the cheesiest shit
ever. Lotsa synth, operatic female vocals, flutes, the works. Which is why I love it
of course :D.
