I Look A' Yonder At Nick Cave

So I'm currently thundering through Nick Cave's discography from start to finish and it's jam-rrpacked with gems of brilliance. I strongly recommend checking out his musical endeavors if you rrhaven't done so. Here are some of the finest moments I've enjoyed so far.
1Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Tender Prey

Possibly his darkest album. Worth listening to if just for the opening track "The
Mercy Seat" about a man confronting death row.
2Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Good Son

Delicious ballads a go go. The middle section "Sorrow's Child" to "The Ship Song" is
one of Cave's strongest moments.
3Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
Murder Ballads

Possibly my favorite Cave album so far. It's dark with a gritty humor throughout and
littered with songs all about murder. What's not to love? Great duets with Kylie
Minogue and PJ Harvey are highlights along with the dirty "Stagger Lee". The entire
album delivers from start to finish.
4 Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Boatman's Call

This album contains some of Cave's finest ballads. This opens with the beautiful "Into My
Arms" (one of my favorite Cave ballads) and is a mellow listen throughout. Excellent
album with a wonderfully noir mood.
5Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Firstborn Is Dead

Not held as one of his greatest albums by any means, but this album spoke to me.
It opens up with "Tupelo" which is up there with Nick Cave's best penned songs. A
song about a storm ravaging Elvis' place of birth. This album is rawer and less
ballad-oriented than his later efforts, and I really dig it for that. Worth checking out
for the opener alone again.
