Valley of Smoke
First things first, this was a really great show. Although my dad and I missed Pinkish Black, we got to the show just in time to catch Mouth of the Architect. MOTA were awesome per usual, but had a criminally short set (30 min!), and because I haven't listened to Dawning yet 3 of their 4 songs were new to me, so although now I'm super excited to listen to the new album, I couldn't completely jam out. Intronaut, just like MOTA, played a great set, but had sufficient time to go through both old and new material. Joe Lester and Danny Walker live up to every expectation, and as a whole, Intronaut kicked the entire rooms ass, a very powerful performance. And Scale the Summit is basically Dream Theater minus the stupid operatic vocals (a definite plus) and fresher ideas... Enjoyable but not my style. | | 2 |  | Mouth of the Architect
Dawning
After the show me and my dad went to Whataburger for the obligatory after-show BOB. For those who don't know a BOB is a Breakfast on a Bun, and it must be made clear it is a hamburger bun, not a shitty, greasy, doughy biscuit like the average fast food breakfast. It's basically a bun, sausage, egg, and cheese, and it is the perfect bite after expending all your energy watching people perform in an endearingly ratty bar. Anyway, it got me thinking how special it was that my dad had passed this tradition to me from his college days, sort of a miniscule passing the torch. The post-show snack can bring people together in a very special kind of way you can only get at 12:30 a.m. at a restaurant near the highway abandoned by all people of rational thought. And seeing as how food brings people together throughout the world, regardless of race, gender, creed (haha... Creed), etc.... | | 3 |  | Scale the Summit
