Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Oh god, the lyrics in this are awful. Portnoys growling in A Nightmare to Remember and the lyrics in The Count of Tuscany make
me wince in pain, I stopped this halfway through it was that bad. The solo in The Best of Times is the only redeeming point in
this trainwreck. Would've been better as an instrumental album. 2/5 | | 10 |  | Dream Theater
Systematic Chaos
DT's attempts at being edgy and metal - it worked, but it makes you look like a giant tool. Prophets of War is decent though.

A Dramatic Turn Of Events
A whole heap of technical wankery and two-dimensional lyrics; DT should really come to an end, but I want to see the

This album is where the technical wankery starts to become a problem. Songs like Stream of Consciousness and Vacant redeem

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Who doesn't love a good concept album? Great work here vocally and instrumentally, apart from the cheesy vocals that make

LaBrie's vocals are divine here, shame that they fucked up post-FII. DT's iconic album, and you can see why - Pull Me Under

Killer album, DT is better being heavier in this album then later on when they just start wanking their instruments. Scarred is

When Dream and Day Unite
Dominici is really underrated in this album; if you overlook the poor production, it's pretty much DT's peak. It's their only album
that I'll happily listen to in its entirety. 5/5 | |

06.24.13 | I have come to terms with the fact that I am an atypical DT fan--my two favorite albums by the band are 'Octavarium' and 'Black Clouds and Silver Linings', and I'm not that big a fan of 'Awake'.
Then again, I do think that 'Images and Words' and 'Metro, Part II...' are awesome. | sonictheplumber

06.24.13 | count of tuscany is pretty much a better song than 90% of DT's discography, Best of Times despite the cheesy lyrics is also top end DT. Shattered Fortress and A Nightmare to Remember despite their flaws rule and A Rite of Passage is good. Only song that is below par is Wither. Every other album since Scenes from a Memory is either inconsistent ( Train of Thought, Octavarium, Six Degrees), unmemorable ( Dramatic Turn of Events) or completely sucks (Systematic Chaos).
So yeah, LOL goes out to you. | tempest--
