1st Half Of 2013
2013 albums I bought ranked (and personal standout tracks) |
16 | | The National Trouble Will Find Me
Heavenfaced; I Need My Girl. (I forgot to include this in the list, of course it would be ranked way better....maybe 4 or 5). their 4th almost instant classic in a row, it's just beautiful, calming and depressing at the same time |
15 | | The Used Vulnerable (II)
- . I didn't buy Vulnerable when it came out, so i bought the 2013 deluxe edition. while the original album is not really good on its own, the bonus disc is just a pile of shit. the 4 new songs are soooo boring, the 3 remixes sound bad (the Put Me Out remix is a bit better), the acoustic versions are awful and/or unnecessary. Sorry for the hate, but what a waste of money this was. |
14 | | The Wonder Years Sleeping On Trash
Won't Be Pathetic Forever. Again, a collection of earlier material. it's quite fun, but it has an annoying synth that likes to ruin songs. oh, how far they've come! |
13 | | Biffy Clyro Opposites
Sounds Like Balloons. Some huge songs. Many average songs. too many average songs. not quirky at all anymore for the most parts |
12 | | Bring Me The Horizon Sempiternal
Go To Hell...; House Of Wolves. Definately heading into the right direction. if they just fully embraced the more experimental and atmospheric tendencies and stopped putting out shit songs like Antivist... |
11 | | Funeral For A Friend Conduit
Conduit. A perfect album for driving. But the short and aggressive songs don't have the space to truly evolve into something awesome like on their first two albums or Welcome Home Armaggeddon. |
10 | | City And Colour The Hurry And The Harm
Take Care. This could probably climb up a bit as i've not given it too much time. I love his voice, but just liked his more stripped down former work better than this (mostly) full band pop songs. |
9 | | The Story So Far What You Don't See
The Glass; Empty Space. I can't think of a single song that's bad, but this album has so absolutely no change of pace that AS AN ALBUM i can't like it better. |
8 | | Fall Out Boy Save Rock And Roll
The Phoenix; Alone Together. After accepting it being a pure pop album, it is really enjoyable, incredibly fun to sing and shout along with friends and almost too catchy. some songs are way too much Adele/Rihanna though. |
7 | | Silverstein This Is How The Wind Shifts
California; Arrivals (& Departures). They are back, they sound like Silverstein but fresher and re-vitalized. Everything I wanted the album to be. |
6 | | Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience
Mirrors; Spaceship Coupe. Surreal voice + mental production = pop bliss. |
5 | | Jimmy Eat World Damage
Appreciation; No, Never. Their best release in years. It is too short and has some 'meh'-songs (Lean...) but also some great classic JEW sounding jams. |
4 | | Texas Is The Reason The Complete Edition
Back And To The Left. Of course a reissue of older material, but i wanted to include it here because its so awesome. |
3 | | Boysetsfire While A Nation Sleeps
The Altar Of God. Some of the hardest hitting and some of the most anthemic songs they have written. An album at least on par with their previous releases. |
2 | | Senses Fail Renacer
Holy Mountain; Between The Mountain And The Sea. A newfound urgency and aggression without losing epic melodies makes this my favourite SF album. |
1 | | The Wonder Years The Greatest Generation
I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral. One of the best album closers in quite some time closing one of the best pop punk albums in quite some time. |
