06.15.13 | Internet generally says stay away from Crosley | Masochist
06.15.13 | I'm not in the know when it comes to record players. I can only suggest buying one that has three speeds (33 1/3, 45 and 78) and a pitch shifter for those times when your records seem to be playing only slightly too fast. | keyokeyo
06.15.13 | Thanks, I'll be sure to check for all 3 playback speeds. Although only 33.33 and 45 are essential. I honestly had no idea how costly/involved set ups could be with upgradeability and everything, it's just like cars in a way | DominionMM1
06.15.13 | I'd look for something used. I personally dig bang &olufsen and technics. Then buy yourself a nice, quality cartridge because
a good cartridge will increase the sound quality greatly. | c0ffee
06.15.13 | I know Craigslist can have its sketchy situations, but look around for some vintage turntables. Some older Technics or Pioneer TT's are easy to come by. I'd aim for a direct drive...now worries with changing belts. I picked up a Technics SL-1200 MK2 for $100 which is an insanely good deal; this thing is a tank. But generally, you can pay MUCH less for a vintage turntable that functions better than some of these modern-day models. I found my buddy a $30 Technics table that functions/sounds awesome. Of course, the amp/speakers play a big role on the sound. | c0ffee
06.15.13 | More advice: Any older, used model you find, just search the model # on audiokarma.org to dig up some good first hand experiences and comparisons. | keyokeyo
06.15.13 | Thanks coffee, will definitely check out older models. Looking for a price range of $300 or less |
