| A Dance With Dragons Thoughts
well i just now got to reading a dance with dragons and like a feast for crows, it took me about a month because i cared so little about what was happening in the book...it was better than a feast for crows just because i'll always take tyrion and dany and jon over fucking sam the craven (sam the slayer my ass, he killed one fuckin dude on accident pretty much, total fluke) and the few cersei chapters were really good i thought. but overall i think martin needs a fucking editor, or else he's gonna become a dirty r-rated version of robert jordan, and he's also probably gonna die before books 6 and 7. and lets say they get released...judging by the fact that the series was supposed to be a goddamn trilogy to begin with, what makes us think martin will stop at 7? once he dies he can get his neighbor to do prequels :D but seriously though this book wasnt terrible or anything its just i thought martin could do better. | | 1 |  | blind guardian

06.12.13 | I thought Dreams and Dust was great; I really dug Tyrion's boat trip and the introduction of...erm...Young Griff, and I also thought Quent's story was nice (if rather pointless)
However, Dany's chapters started to get ridiculous and I lost a lot of respect for her until she FINALLY got on the bloody dragon and flew away, and it would have been nice if SOMETHING actually happened in Dorne | Jruined

I think Jordan is milking his audience for all they are worth, so finishing the story arcs don't matter much to him, just keeping the cash cow going. | Uranium

06.12.13 | Oh I like descriptive, level of detail in the landscape and such just made the reading a little slower as I was getting towards the end of Return of the King, which makes this refreshing by comparison. I'm sure I'll have no problem with books 4 and 5 by the time I get to them. | Jruined
06.14.13 | @sonic Jordan died before he finished his vision of things, he didn't go off on tangents just to lure the reader a long he just had so much shit to say about the world he had envisioned and notated extensively. If he hadn't they wouldn't have been able to finish them. I really don't give two about the WoT books either. The first couple were good, then once everyone found their places they went to shit, especially Rand.
Martin is just floundering trying to live his life posh before he bounces off on his fat ass and dies.
Jordan started this whole bloated idea of book series needing to last beyond 2 or three (actually piers anthony did with xanth but at least they weren't connected by more than blood) and Martin is just a symptom.
Why could Tolstoy tell an epic in one novel, but these fucks can't do it in 3 or 4?
Mind you, these are all a continuing arc, not permutations and extensions like Elric, Severian, or Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser. Even there, each story is self contained and each following novel only references the preceding.
