05.16.13 | i got some sony mdr XBs which are really reaally good.. they r just a bit beefy. |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | beefy? does that mean big? because im gonna use them only at home and on long car trips |
zombi666
05.16.13 | Kicker EB141Bs all I need. |

05.16.13 | I've got a pair of Sennheiser HD 25 II. Pretty decent. |

decent and cheap |
SubtleBody
05.16.13 | Sennheiser HD202
I get them for about $70 and the cables bust after about 1-2 years, but I can never be fucked paying more for headphones with detachable cords, so I just keep going back to them. They sound nice and they're comfy. |
YoYoMancuso
05.16.13 | pretty sure you can't buy sputnik users |
Sleaper
05.16.13 | beefy meaning chunky around the ears.. but very comfortable.
sennheiser are #1 tho for sure. just a bit more on the expensive side. |
coocoocachoo
05.16.13 | wicked headphones from FYE

i actually have old akg k44, which amazon say they are closed, but i thought closed meant not hearing any noises at all? |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | i want good noise cancellation so when im watching porn i wont hear my sister crying, cause thats pretty fucked up |
NapalmCrusader
05.16.13 | Just don't by beats, lol. |
liberi
05.16.13 | In that price range and closed style, you'll get lots of recs for Sennheisers - which is right move to make. There are plenty of other gems under in that price range, but smarter to just go with safe bet and get some sennheiser hd 202's.

05.16.13 | "i actually have old akg k44, which amazon say they are closed, but i thought closed meant not hearing any noises at all?"
Closed means closed-back. As opposed to open-back, which allows air to escape both sides of the ear pads (not just towards your ear). Open-back phones have terrible sound leakage, but they usually have superior sound quality. |
Masochist
05.16.13 | Also...I don't mind AKG K44's. Then again, I got mine for $20, so I guess I can't really complain.
As for recs...yeah, my Senn HD-202's were awesome, but also yeah, they have weak-ass cords. I might also rec Audio Technica ATH-M30's or M40's, both of which come between $30-50. And someone else rec'd Sony XB-500's, which are definite recommends if you need DAT BASS. |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | HD 205 look pretty good, 202 look kinda cheap tbh |
zuzek
05.16.13 | If you are willing to consider IEM's, I just bought some VSonic VC02's and for the money ($40-50) you are getting some absolutely incredible quality. They're almost as good as my KRK KNS-8400 studio headphones which are 5-6 times that. |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | my problem with in ear phones is that i have to try them on before buying, so buying from the internet is not an option:/
creative aurvana look really nice, the revs are good too |
SupercolliderMusic
05.16.13 | ATH M50s are $100 and will be your best bet for that price.
If you want an EXCELLENT pair of ear buds, i'd recommend the JVC HAFX1X's. |
anarchistfish
05.16.13 | I have JVC HA-500s, which are really good (they cost £30 and are probably better than my old £95 in-ears) sound quality wise, but probably aren't what you're looking for if you want good isolation.

Why do retarded fucks spend 200 bucks on headphones? |
ncguitar
05.16.13 | Damn right, spend $20 and listen to Bloodhound Gang and Eminem! |
ncguitar
05.16.13 | If you spend $600000 but don't have a beastly soundcard or audio input then yeah, but the difference is notorious when comparing $20 headphones with $100-$200 ones. |
DrMaximus
05.16.13 | headphones is a great user, and he's not for sale. |
Masochist
05.16.13 | "Why do retarded fucks spend 200 bucks on headphones?"
For the same reason retarded fucks spend 400 bucks on car sound systems and home-theater set-ups--because they want to get the best sound out of their media. I listen to music on my computer most of all, but I don't want a big speaker system because I have neighbors and roommates. Hence, headphones. |
J0ckstrapsFTW

ViperAces
05.16.13 | i think i narrowed it down to 2: sony mdr-v6 or creative aurvana live |
RadicalEd
05.16.13 | Teufel: aureol real.
- ultra light
- very comfortable
- very detailed and neutral sound for it's price range (about hundred bucks).
- stylish
only downside is the bass which is kind of shaky at times when you listen to say electronica with deep
heavy bass. (Clubroot for example) |
anarchistfish
05.16.13 | "i think i narrowed it down to 2: sony mdr-v6 or creative aurvana live"
those are actually two I had on my shortlist. almost went for the mdr-v6 before picking the jvcs. I
think I considered the CAL!s too flimsy so I never seriously approached buying them, and also the mdr-
v6s don't require an amp |

05.16.13 | ATH-M50. Pretty much the best thing you can get in that price range. |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | "and also the mdr- v6s don't require an amp"
isnt that a good thing? |
anarchistfish
05.16.13 | Yeah that was my point. I picked them over the CAL!s but last minute discovered the JVCs, which just about won me over |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | comfort is actually really important to me, wearing my K44 feels like wearing rainbows. |

05.16.13 | I love my ATH-M50's. A tad over $100 though, I think mine were $115. |
ViperAces
05.16.13 | yea, wish i could afford these:/ 5/5 avg on amazon |
anarchistfish
05.16.13 | When I first got them they were really uncomfortable and I couldn't wear them for longer than 15
minutes at a time. I seem to have gotten used to them though, although a lot of people don't like the
stock pads at all and modify them |

omnipanzer
05.16.13 | "m50s"
Somehow I doubt you need all that headphone unless you are actually doing some recording or have a
serious vinyl collection. I would go with the m30 or m40 at less than half the price personally. |
klap
05.16.13 | M50s had a sweet deal a couple weeks back when they were like $80. can't beat that really |
omnipanzer
05.16.13 | Not if you can get them for $80 you can't. |
klap
05.16.13 | yeah amazon does those sales every once in a while. i'd probably go with the m40s too for the average listener tho |
