Brazilian/portuguese Films/books?

I know there's a bunch of Lusophones on this site so what do you recommend in terms of films and books for someone trying to learn the language? Stuff which is relatively simple to understand.
1Arcane Roots
Blood & Chemistry

Short novels, modern stuff, classics, I don't mind too much. As long as it's good
and not too hard to read so I can actually improve rather than just sit there with a
blank stare.
2Boards of Canada
Geogaddi

Brazilian films preferably, cos I'd rather not confuse myself with European
pronunciations. I heard Cidade de Deus is good so I may give that a go. I don't
know how fast they speak in Brazilian & Portuguese films though, but even I find it
difficult to understand French films a lot of the time.
3Deftones
Saturday Night Wrist
4Hammock
Kenotic
5Desolate
Celestial Light Beings
6The National
Trouble Will Find Me
