| Blind Guardian Albums-best To Worst
I finally have all 8 of their full length albums. So, im ranking
them from my favorite to least favorite. In a sense, they are
split into 4 sections:
1-2 are easily my two favorites
3-5 are all really close, and can almost go either way.
6 is the oddball, being somewhat in the middle. Almost as
good as the above 3,
7-8 are easily my least favorite, but still awesome.
I included my three favorite tracks from each album. | | 1 | | Blind Guardian A Night at the Opera
This album is a classic in my eyes. It may be pretentious, it may be overblown, but that is what makes
this album so breath-taking. The symphony backs the music perfectly, and the album has produced
many of my all time favorite BG tracks. Top 3: And Then There Was Silence, The Soulforged, Punishment
Divine | | 2 | | Blind Guardian Imaginations From the Other Side
This album comes about as close as possible to matching ANATO. This is quite possibly their most solid
offering, with every song being a highlight. Top 3: The For $cript My Requiem, Imaginations From the
Other Side, And the Story Ends | | 3 | | Blind Guardian Nightfall in Middle-Earth
This is BG's most epic album. The whole fantasy atmosphere may actually be why this made it into my
top 3 BG albums. This album doesn't have as strong highlights as most of their other albums. Most of
the tracks dont stand as well by themselves, the album needs to be listened to as a whole. And I like
most of the dialogues. Top 3: Mirror, Mirror, Curse of Feanor, Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns) | | 4 | | Blind Guardian Tales From the Twilight World
Definately BG's most underrated album. This is th band's transitional album in a sense. No longer were
they a typic speed metal band, they started adding more power metal elements, as well as the epic
choruses that would soon be their trademark. Top 3: Lost in the Twilight Hall, Traveler in Time, The
Last Candle | | 5 | | Blind Guardian Somewhere Far Beyond
Possibly the band's most popular album, and their "breakthrough." This album has my favorite BG track
of all time, (the title track) but for the most part, the rest of the album isn't quite up to it's standards. I
see this album as having 1 classic song, 4 amazing songs, and 3 weakk songs (for BG standards) plus
the two minute long interludes. This means that only half the album is amazing really, at least imo.
Still, it's a fantastic album, just a bit overrated imo. Top 3: Somewhere Far Beyond, Ashes to Ashes,
Time What Is Time | | 6 | | Blind Guardian A Twist in the Myth
A much simpler, more mainstream BG album. Has some of BG's best songs, yet has a few average songs
that bring it down a little. Top 3: Straight Through the Mirror, Fly, Otherland | | 7 | | Blind Guardian Battalions of Fear
Their debut, and least power metal album. This is pretty much speed metal with some melodic touches.
instrumentally, it's amazing for a debut, but it lacks the certain spark that their later releases had. Top
3: Majesty, The Martyr, Battalions of Fear | | 8 | | Blind Guardian Follow the Blind
Their other "speed metal" album, and I see it as their weakest release. Other than the classic
Valhalla" and "Banish From Sanctuary," this album really doesn't have anything too worthwhile compared
to the rest of BG's albums. Thats not to say I don't enjoy it, each song is quite good actually. But those
two songs are the only true highlights imo. Top 3: Valhalla, Banish From Sanctuary, Damned For All

01.17.08 | i only have 3 and 5, but i am in a dire need to get the rest. i agree on your top songs for both those albums though, Mirror Mirror and Somewhere Far Beyond are my favorite songs | BallsToTheWall
01.17.08 | Only have 5 but it's sick. I always see 2 and 3 used at my fye. | ColdDamnation
01.17.08 | I can't get into their new one at all...pretty much every other album they have has at least 3 classic songs on it though...for some reason I don't think of BG as one of my favorite bands until I hear Thorn or The Whistler or freakin Bright Eyes...I prefer Demons & Wizards actually...especially Fiddler on the Green.
can I just say that alive, they're fucking intense...they played a fairly small venue, and it was one of the most epic things I've seen.
Imaginations From the Other Side would probably be my number one if I had to narrow it down...I'd put some acoustic b-sides on there and a couple of others to make it perfect however | Altmer
01.17.08 | Follow the Blind rules and I think ANATO is too over-the-top. I also like Twist more. Excellent band, I just don't listen to them much lately. | rasputin
01.17.08 | I bought Nightfall in Middle_Earth the other day, and it's really good. I haven't listened to anything else by them though. | Poet
01.17.08 | I agree with 1, one of the best albums I have ever heard.
I would put A Twist in the Myth second though, I love that album. | combustion07
01.27.08 | 3 is my favorite. |
